bertrand
I see that Dusty Groove has two Carlos Garnett Muse CDs reissued under Muse/Soul Brothers (UK). Is this just some set-up Carlos arranged, or are there more Muse titles by other artists in the Pipeline?
mjazzg
Guess you need to ask Soul Brother. Easy enough to find online Edited July 31, 2021 by mjazzg
bertrand
I was assuming someone would say it was already discussed. This must have just happened. Edited July 31, 2021 by bertrand
JSngry
Three st DG, actually. Five altogether. Seems to be a niche label, wouldn't look for a broad Muse reissue program.. https://www.dustygroove.com/label/131015 https://soulbrother.com/?s=carlos+garnett&searchsubmit=Search&post_type=product

I grabbed all except "Black Love", which I already had on Muse CD from the 90's. A small scattering of other Muse product was included at the time, (Dom Um Romao, one Walter Bishop, a few anthologies of other artists such as Charles Earland), and Soul Brother is, as noted, very much a niche label (a very good one at that), much more soul than Jazz. HutchFan
Here's the Soul Brother UK listing on discogs: https://www.discogs.com/label/55570-Soul-Brother-Records-3?sort=year&sort_order=desc Like felser said, they cover soul, funk, soul jazz, and other genres across many labels. It doesn't look like they have any sort of special Muse reissue "program" (unfortunately!). A few more examples of their reissues: Stuff by Shirley Scott (Cadet), Horace Silver (Blue Note), Eddie Henderson (Capricorn & Capitol), and Idris Muhammad (Kudu). A solid label for those interested in the jazz/soul/funk/fusion thang(s) from that time. Edited July 31, 2021 by HutchFan

Question: Do you have one or two favorites that stand out from among all five??

To me, "Journey to Enlightenment" and "Let This Melody Ring On" are the cream of the crop, even above "Black Love".
mjazzg
Not just a label, very much an institution amongst London's record shops Edited August 1, 2021 by mjazzg
