When I first heard of the new film, we got the old one from Netflix and really enjoyed it (again). Robert Shaw was a terrific bad guy.

The original is really good so I'm not sure I want to see the new one.
-
the above makes it sound like he's trying old things.

As long as we are naming names - Jeanne Lee!

I have all the material on a Billy Banks disc on Classics coupled with a Red Allen on Neatworks (32 tracks with alternates). I first became a fan of this stuff from an English, CBS/Realm lp in the '60s. I'll see if I can get you a complete list. What label issued your cd? I see what it is now. Get back soon with details. All wonderful stuff.

First, Mary Lou Williams. Somewhere down the line is Marlene Rosenberg. After her somewhere is Ms Krall. I might be able to enjoy her more if silly "street teams" didn't try to tell me how great she is. She can sing but the "baggage" turns me off.

Interested parties should note the 2 disc Monk/Trane set is $5.98.

Remember hearing him in some small club in NY in the first half of the '70s. We went because Cuscuna (then an Atlantic employee) could get us a free meal.

How about a "ripped thread" so we could tell the state of the posters without having to guess?

HB Bertrand. I hope you pull your head out of the stacks long enough to enjoy the flowers. -
I've probably said this before but if you can find New Jazz/Prestige discs of the Tristano/Konitz material, it is wonderful beneath the surface noise - much more dynamics and everything else. Same goes for the Lester Young/Kansas City Seven date on Keynote.

Through record biz history folks go broke trying to bring great stuff to the public. We are not all major corps. Praise Ross Russell for the Dials and regret all the money he lost. AND don't blame folks like this because your latest whim isn't currently available for download.
