  1. Many were but many sound fine. Send bucks.
  2. Nah, I'd bet Chris's glee club memory pans out.
  3. Talked to Spencer at Edgefest. Good to see him again. A fine musician and genuine, nice guy.
  4. This duo made a third album, I Love Jerome Kern, issued on Riverside.
  5. Must be a word for that.
  6. Nice twofer from Fantasy, just receive it from Concord for a bit less than the offer HERE.
  7. I have to say (my suspicion is) the "editorial offices" of many pubs currently select which cds to send out for review and which reviews to publish based on the prejudices of the editor. Some of this is music based and some business based. Don't really have a problem if a jazz mag decides to exclude a review of the latest smooth jazz release AND I'm sure they get hundreds of "local" acts and must cut somewhere. Nothing really bad here unless the choice is totally economic. I'm sure a bunch of these mags get "shit" samples and ignore the "product". I do know Uptown had been regularly buying ads in a mag and no reviews appeared. Finally the company bitched and they did a positive review of the Diz/Bird disc. Cause and effect? Will never know. I also know when I issued the AE box, bought an ad, a review appeard. I asked the reviewer why they didn't include my address as they did for Mosaic. He said it was because I didn't place an ad. I said I had and he said "then they fucked up".
  8. Well said, 'cept for some shit.
  9. I have unbounded respect for Jim and if he tells me to stop, I will go away out of respect to him and his work.
  10. At least Keith exhibits emotions on some recordings.
  11. Only once that I'm aware of - iirc, a British magazine refused to review our cd after someone on the board had written negative comments about said mag. We sort of shrugged that one off; for one thing, the comments were not wholly inaccurate. Over the 40 years I've had my company we've had about 4 different distributors on the UK. None of them sold more than 50 of any title. Who would want to "kill free speech" to gain that? Not saying 50 sales are nothing, but weigh the consequences vs self respect. I hate this shit when folks are afraid to say what they mean to "protect" commerce. I have undoubtedly lost sales for my uncensored comments here but I accept that and feel it's "their" problem and they lose by not owning some great music. If I thought many posters to any thread were "holding back" to be "polite" I probably wouldn't be around long.
  12. When can we see the results?
  13. Go. Sit a few rows back.
  14. So how many Marshmallow Skies records you folks got?
  15. First rule of flirting: Never ask what they think.
  16. What Larry said.
  17. I hope to recover $93,000 if restitution works.
  18. What you willing to pay? I can be convinced if the number is "right".
  19. Ann and I saw Organissimo with Skid last night. 'Cause of the 9:30 starting time (and impending snow storm), we had to leave early in the second set. The band sounded great (in spite of new space/acoustics) possibly as a result of not rehearsing lately. We got home about 1 am. Ann was exhausted (had to be at work at 7:30) and I was really frazzled after driving through "lake effect" snow. Great time to hear the band.
  20. Great to read that. Brownie/Guy is a treasure.
  21. Do you think the legal fees will be adjusted as well?
  22. And have further "derailed" the topic.
  23. For me, and my wife of 44 years, I think this is silly. YMMV.
  24. The answers are yes and yes. Malachi also mentioned Israel Crosby.
