    Chicago

Which one? ← The real one, not the recent imposters. Jerry Vale/Chicago = same thing.
  2. Hank, all those chords are lovely and placed impeccably - why don't you EVER take a friggin' chance? Is "good taste" always the answer? Thanks for all the lovely music, and I mean that.
  3. Leonard Feather produced this session on the Wet Coast and all the tunes were written by Clarence Williams and Irving Mills.
  4. I might be able to find a "buggy whip" maker here in Michigan. Want the address? Almost like being in jazz indeed!

    Chicago

Amazing no person has mentioned the "Chicago mob" connections to the group.
  6. WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!? At least part of the real world is reflected on CSPAN!
  7. Will she/he give you points as odds?
  8. Not since 1949 when I ran screaming to escape The Wizard of Oz. I still get chills when I see women with green skin.
  9. After 3 or 4 Webers, I tired of messing with the coals and bought one of these:
  10. I almost deleted my post, not wanting to dampen your enthusiasm.
  11. Unfortunately the current Collectables issue omits 10 bonus tracks used for the Atlantic cd set. The Atlantic set combined 3 lps and the Collectables only has the 2 Atlantic lps. The 3rd lp was a Reprise record called Greatest Hits Live. This included a wonderful version of the Black and Tan/Mooche/Creole Love Call medley. As the linernotes mention, Don't Get Around Much Anymore is a studio recording. To my knowledge, nobody has pointed out Satin Doll is a studio recording as well - it is the same as the recording on Ellington '66.

  14. Indeed it was!
  15. Yes, I saw that on the Amazon site a few days ago. I only need volume 6 to complete the set.
  16. Happy Birthday Jim! Sounds like a very fine day ahead. See you tomorrow night at 7:00.
  17. I have all the 78s and the cd so I dumped the Mosaic. I really love these dates.
  18. I sold my set after gathering all the included albums either on cds or on Lps. The sonics of this Mosaic weren't something to rave about, imo. At least one cd was mastered off an old Lp, clicks and all. Don't remember hearing one was a dub. Do you remember which one? FWIW, I have the material otherwise - not the Mosaic.
  19. Short answer is the Brunswick an Victor recordings were recorded in better sound. Second part of that is the Victors cover a longer time span and more material. This is desert island stuff for me. If you want more info/opinions email me.
  20. Most of my memories are from Sid's show. Never saw the Andy stuff. He was a serious man of comedy. One of the best.
  21. It's the 1927-34 stuff I want.
  22. You have a great set at a great price. Wish I had it.
  23. It's probably the best Duke Pearson record ever issued.
