  1. IIRC, Universal did not own Commodore at the time. I believe Mosaic licensed the material from Gabler/Commodore. The Pair cds were a different license with Gabler.
  2. West Coast Hot is a compilation of material from 2 Bradford/Carter lps and one by Tapscott. These 3 lps were first issued on Flying Dutchman.
  3. I suggest you try again.
  4. The sound is ok - no reason to ignore the date, BUT no way would I say this is the best Rudd/Tchicai recording. Mohawk is a masterpiece of group music thanks to all the players. The masterful drumming of Milford Graves interacting with the others is a big part of the equation. Mohawk is a mofo! The ESP disc is fine too.
  5. I will keep my fingers crossed for a few titles. Thanks.

    Jimmy Raney

No time to collect my thoughts now but I put a band together for the Chicago Jazz Festival with Raney, Lou Levy and Warne Marsh. It should have "killed". Odd outcome to say the least. More later if someone prods me. I listened to the tapes recently and was dismayed.

I wouldn't sweat it. Let it go.
  8. Does that mean one on top too?
  9. Right now I'm having problems with everything BUT Organissimo and Google. No idea why. I forgot there are other sites.
  10. Earl Hines "Quintessential Recording Session".
  11. I always felt the unissued titles and alternate takes revealed an earlier (stride based) side of Nichols. If the alternates had been issued first we'd have a very different (but fine) impression of the artist. I found this set to be one of the best "excuses" for alternates I know. I would not want to be without them. You can always program your listening pleasure.
  12. Triage is one of my favorite current bands. I have both of their recordings. Dave Rempis is a fine player. If you have to pick, take the first. Then you will feel the need for the second.
  13. Might have been your lucky day.

    Let me throw the first.
  15. So, I take it you have bought all the cds you want and are looking for more. Why do you say that Chuck? Are they trading officially available material? Guy I was asking if he/she had bought (or at least owned) every recording "they" could have wanted and now "needed" more, hence downloads.

How the hell did you get out of your playpen?
  17. McGriff is a dog checking your house. Jimmy took it beyond Wild Bill (would'a bee'd my first choice), BUT "BFW" gives me more pleasure per minute!
  18. Some are legit, some grey and some thefts. Aren't you pleased I answered your question? B-)
  19. In Pennsylvania we're lucky to get a refund within a month or two of filing. Do you file online? That's how I do it. I haven't done that yet. I'm sure that would speed things up, even in THIS state. Time to join the 21st Century.

  21. Finished (with TurboTax) a couple weeks ago - owe the IRS $2000 and get back $500 from the state. State refund arrived in a week and goes toward the fed bill.
  22. FWIW, you might be off track here.
