Keith Jarrett - The Carnegie Hall Concert: bought this the other day and was a little surprised to realize that I own 5 Jarrett solo albums (on 8 discs). I plan on revisiting the rest to see how I feel about them.

Wow. I'd like to hear that! Now playing: The more I hear this album, the more I think that it is a modern organ classic.

I have been playing this a lot.

I bought Bar Wars the other day and realized that the takes of 'It's All Right with Me' are exactly the same. My copy omits the shorter alternate take, whereas the Amazon download has the two different versions. Did I get a copy from a bad run, or are other CD versions also faulty?

Lonnie Plaxico - Live at Jazz Standard: I saw 3 of the band members (Plaxico, Marcus Strickland and Martin Bejerano) as part of three different groups in two days in June.

Coleman Hawkins - Body & Soul Revisited Bill Heid - Dark Secrets Keith Jarrett - The Carnegie Hall Concert Jarrett/Peacock/DeJohnette - The Cure David Sanchez - Sketches of Dreams Randy Johnston - Homage Willis Jackson - Bar Wars Nicholas Payton - Sonic Trance Lonnie Plaxico - Live at Jazz Standard Ernie Watts/Gilberto Gil - Afoxe

Bill Heid - Blues on the Road: I didn't rip this when I first bought it at a Heid gig a few years ago and I am finally getting around to giving it a spin. After picking up his Dark Secrets today, I looked him up and found out that it is his 71st birthday. Talk about timing! Happy Birthday, Mr. Heid!

Eddy Louiss - Recit Proche: I only have two Louiss albums and thoroughly enjoy them.

Bill Easley - Business Man's Bounce

Shirley Scott - Great Scott!: After recently buying the Turrentine Mosaic, I wanted to get more Scott. I then was ripping some Buck Hill last week and looked up his AllMusic credits. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw he was on a Scott album with Mickey Roker, one of my favorite drummers. This was an easy purchase decision.

Despite having a fair amount of Harris as a leader, I think that I have only one of his leader dates. Talk about a hole in my collection! I'll have to rectify that, maybe with that solo date, which I didn't previously know about. Now playing: Ray Drummond - Camera in a Bag: Coincidentally, I think that the last time I saw Drummond was with Harris and Leroy Williams in Detroit. I wish that I could have seen the whole set because the trio was in fine form. Drummond had a string of excellent leader dates. This one has 'Fathead' Newmam, Steve Nelson, Kenny Barron and Marvin 'Smitty' Smith.

I was familiar with Baczkowski from my trips to Buffalo to see avant-garde concerts at Hall Walls over the years. I think he has introduced every artist I have seen there. I finally got to see him play baritone two years ago in Cleveland with The Buffalo Jazz Octet and it was eye-opening seeing him as a performer. He was impressive.

Tubby Hayes - Grita and Greens: The Lost Fontana Sessions 1969: I am a Hayes neophyte, only having one Jazz Couriers album. I am listening to the deluxe edition via Amazon Music to see whether I would be interested in purchasing it (and, if so, which version). FWIW, the regular version is $4.99 and the deluxe version is $9.49 for download, which is reasonable.

I purchased Bill Easley's Business Man's Bounce, Hearing Voices and Easley Said. I also bought Shirley Scott's Muse date, Great Scott, which has Buck Hill, Arthur Harper and Mickey Roker. My ears are in for a healthy dose of great saxophone.

Bill Easley - Hearing Voices: Easley is an underrated master. After buying his excellent First Call a few months ago, I purchased this one, Easley Said and Business Man's Bounce this week.

A different album for Jones, with a rotating cast of vocalists. I feel like I have taken Jones for granted a bit after seeing him live so many times. He has never been less than excellent live and I am enjoying go back through his albums. I plan on seeing a double bill with his quartet and Kenny Barron's trio next year. With his chair position at Berklee, I hope he doesn't slow down recording and touring due to his responsibilities.
