  1. Thanks to Ken's sale. Now the only Magical Trio recording I am missing is Awesome!, the second one Williams did with Brown and Jones.
  2. From Ken's sale. It has been too long since I've spent significant time with my Pullen albums. I am thinking that a Pullen and George Adams spree is in the works.
  3. Tonight: Phil Ranelin in Detroit. It's been 2 or 3 years since I last saw him. I am sitting near his niece. It is going to be fun.
  4. I own 3 Tabackin albums and 5 with Toshiko Akiyoshi. I need to spend more time with them and revisit his work with the likes of Donald Byrd and Duke Pearson.
  5. Lew Tabackin - Tenority: I wish Tabackin would tour around here, although I was fortunate to see most of a trio set at Smalls a few years ago. Having the bell of his horn pointed at me from a few feet away was intense.
  6. Red Garland - Keystones!: It's odd that the Resonance release claims that it documents the only time Garland worked with Vinnegar and Philly Joe when this was recorded 7 months before the Resonance album. I know the Resonance album has great sound quality and the Xanadu date sounds quite rough, but the latter exists.
  7. Here is a picture of the corner in question.
  8. Bill Evans - New Jazz Conceptions
  9. Looks interesting. Lehman is coming to Cleveland in September with Brewer and Reid. No Taborn, sadly, but I am looking forward to attending.
  10. Arabesque still releases jazz, just not as frequently. The most recent Arabesque Jazz release was from November of last year. They have an impressive catalog. Now playing: Stone Alliance - Live in Amsterdam: The only Grossman I have and the only recording I have with Don Alias on trap drums. Fun, muscular stuff.
  11. Guitarist Vic Juris has been diagnosed with metastatic liver cancer and there is a GoFundMe campaign to help him out. Here's wishing him the best.
  12. It is his The Complete Syllables Music four-disc, limited box. I paid $30 and am asking $20 (Paypal F&F), including stateside shipping. It has been played once. One corner of the box looks like it was slightly bounced around in transit along the line, but the discs and booklets are pristine.
  13. Disc 1: I only own this single disc, but I would like to buy the whole set at some point.
  14. Tim Armacost - Time Being: I was unfamiliar with Armacost until catching him with David Berkman.
  15. Nice! I picked that one up in April in Princeton along with his In the Mix. Ken is a hero around here after that sale. I have some great stuff on the way. Now playing: Kenny Drew, Jr. - Winter Flower: The younger Drew has a healthy discography, but it saddens me that many of the physical discs are OOP. He had such a full sound, both in tone and how he voiced things.
  16. Wynton Kelly - In Concert: I saw some other people listening to live Kelly yesterday and am on my second listen since then.
  17. Bill Evans - New Jazz Conceptions: I'd been curious about this album for a long time and gave it a listen on Amazon before tracking down the K2.
  18. Started with: The Three Sounds - Standards: A fine way to start the morning and the album received the baby's seal of approval (dancing in her high chair). Next up: Wynton Kelly - Piano Interpretations
