  1. it's those damned animal rights activists -
  2. and I don't know what all the trouble is here - personally I love Veal Marsala -
  3. look it's a free country except for saying nice things about Oscar Peterson - for that I will submit a notice to the FBI and IRS and make sure you are audited, and that your bird is murdered -
  4. Chewy misses the good old days of the Reichstag fire - beautiful big breasted fraulein roasting marshmallows beneath the Berlin moon; the smell of burning books in the morning; happy youth with their heads held high in the Aryan wind - hell, I miss those days myself -
  5. Tea for Two and I Ain't Got Nobody are definitely on my LP -
  6. second cousin to Mort Drucker -
  7. somewhere I have an LP with Weatherford piano solos, and they may be the things that are on the 78s - interesting stuff, the work of a pianist who, once ahead of his time, was now a little behind the times - but still a terrific musician (and an early influence on Earl Hines) - I also think that my Devilin Tune set has one of these - will have to take a look later in the week -
  8. just googled it - definitely Stanley Drucker -
  9. I have a vague memory of seeing a well-known clarinetist - Stanley Drucker? or a similar name - play a Nielsen clarinet piece with orchestra, maybe 40 years ago - great piece - and Drucker, or whatever his name was, lived in my home town (Massapequa) and performed it with the local symphony -
  10. Larry, by the way - I can't find that other thread - but that's definitely Jaki Byard on piano with Ferguson -
  11. Twizzzle - where the hell did you get that picture? It's in a file of mine somewhere - and that's SEAN SMITH on bass - great player, still out there somewhere -
  12. well, even that's not really known for sure - it is thought that DA Wade MIGHT have been working on some kind of script, but nobody knows - the key here is to understand that the news media, rather than reporting the important thing - the release of info long held back - reports the least credible of the stories. In the annals of JFK assassination response, this is nothing new -
  13. Alex Ross - EDC's favorite critic -
  14. good - now go out and liquidate all CDs by my jazz competitors -
  15. Dan's right, this transcript is bogus - HOWEVER - the true significance of this report is that they are about to release thousands of pages on the Ruby trial which have been withheld for about 40 years - that's the real news story; the Dallas PD has been one of the most racist and corrupt in the country; they have been held reponsible for more false convictions than any other department in the US until the recent choice of an African American chief; during the time of the JFK assassination the word was out to keep Jews and blacks off of juries, and the DA Henry Wade was basically a white supremacist; the mayor's brother was a major CIA asset - so this may turn out to be quite interesting -
  16. actually it really is me, and I took it myself with a digital camera as I sat at a red light in South Portland, Maine - than used it on my new CD cover -
  17. and larry K. and chuck N. and Jim A. and Jim S. and Joe G. and Chris A. why is this starting to sound like a Victorian novel?
  18. and, of course, the G-Spot - and G-Men and gee whiz and cheese whiz -
  19. few people know this, but Kenny G is related to Najee and Gandhi Ji - and Kenny P (Peplowski) -
  20. Berigan he likes -
  21. and he is looking at YOU - and all the rest of you liberals out there -
  22. Murray Chotiner - mob-connected early associate of Richard Nixon, who continued to assist Nixon aftrer he was elected president; Chotiner is considered to be the inventor, I kid you not, of dirty tricks - he helped Nixon win his first (and very dirty) campaign against Helen Gahagan Douglas for congress and hooked Nixon up with mobsters and lots of cash. When I was working for Allard Lowenstein in his unsuccessful run for congressional re-election (circa 1970), Lowenstein lost in a very dirty campaign, and rumors had it that Chotiner had assisted in his opponent Norman Lent's campaign. Years later a Lowenstein bio confirmed that Chotiner had been a mastermind of that campaign. Chotiner died somewhat mysteriously after a seemingly minor car accident -
  23. hey Weizen - I know a good park bench on Central Park West - get a good blanket and a loaded pistol and nobody will bother you - unless it's the Secret Police on Republican patrol - I hope Guantanamo has a jazz club - enjoy your stay -
