yes, his Elvis bio is crap too - there were several devastating reviews when his Bruce book came out, particularly, as I recall, by Nat Hentoff. I read it and it's a mess. Lawrence Schiller, his collaborator, is basically a literary ambulance chaser. Best books on Lenny are The Essential, his autobiography, and the book that came out a year or so ago on his legal battles - better yet, get the LPs and CDs - another amazing thing is the Lenny Bruce Performance film, from the Basin Street West. Brilliant stuff-

best storage medium for preservation and backup is still the real disc - LP or 78 or 45 - they are the only formats we are certain will last. But you gotta get a disc cutter, lathe, etc. Let us know how it comes out -

Scott Yanow needs to be stopped - it's like that old statistic: in India there is a woman giving birth every 40 seconds - we've got to find this woman and stop her - well, Scott Yanow seems to be writing a review every 10 seconds - and must be stopped before he destroys our way of life. Actually, I don't believe there there really IS a Scott Yanow - in reality his reviews come out of a factory in China, written by 12 year girls, and translated on the internet through auto-translation -

the lack of clarity n Sytriana is, IMHO, just bad filmmaking and writing - thre's just not enough in that movie to make it worthwhile, though Clooney is good and works very hard. Nothing makes sense, and the pieces of the "puzzle" have a false sense of importance about them. Why does the car blow up at the beginning? Who cares about the drunken father? Why, indeed, does Clooney fly 10,000 miles to help a shallow and not-particularly important character? WHo cares about another movie about big oil and its conspiracies, when we've seen this a thousand times, and when the movie gives us nothing new or particularly interesting? If these HOllywood guys have any real guts why don't they make a political movie about the current state of the USA and not about the same old same old?
