  1. indeed it is! can i change the thread title? this stuff is so so so hip... -e- . . . and cool. B-)
  2. I have many of these recordings on two Japanese Toshiba "Super Bit Jazz Classics" mini-LP CDs, The Art of Pepper (TOCJ-9311) and Modern Art (TOCJ-9407), which were remastered by Ron McMaster. I'm guessing that, for economic reasons, Mosaic decided to use those remasters after all, rather than have Malcolm Addey remaster the recordings again. But would that be consistent with the following statement from the Mosaic web site? "For each of these exceptional sessions, we have returned to the original master tapes and remastered them in 24-bit with greatly improved results from all previous issues. " [bold added]
  3. So is it now a set you ARE enjoying?
  4. B-) I'd like one signed by your daughter.
  5. Will autographed copies be available?
  6. FWIW, I just spoke to someone at Mosaic who said the back-ordered Hank Mobley set is due in a couple of weeks, and is not in imminent danger of losing it's license. I still advanced it on my purchasing schedule just in case, ordering it along with my preorder of the Art Pepper Select.
  7. Now available for preorder in Upcoming Releases, with 3 full-length tracks as samples. BTW, per the Mosaic site, this set was remastered by Ron McMaster, and not Malcolm Addey as was previously indicated in another thread.
  8. Now available for preorder in Upcoming Releases.
  9. Columbia Small Group Swing Sessions, Disc 3--so far, on first listen in order from the beginning, this is my favorite disc (first 2 discs have Ruby Braff as leader). Listening right now to Buck Clayton with the Marlowe Morris Trio (organ, guitar, drums)--really swings.
  10. The Eagle has landed. #69.
  11. COLUMBIA SMALL GROUP SWING SESSIONS, Disc I. Yep, you read that right. Just got it.
  12. Supposedly, they're still "tuning" both halls for different kinds of music, a process that will take years. I've heard only orchestral music in both halls and, to my admittedly unqualified ears, they both sound great.
  13. She'll just be conviced that you hang out with other psychos like yourself.
  14. The amount of CDs I own somehow always seem to keep ahead of available shelf space... How much shelf space IS there in Mt. Airy, anyway? We may have to borrow some additional shelf space from Chestnut Hill. Damn, I was thinking the same thing about Mt. Airy.
  15. Terrific. Under that glass canopy, there are actually 2 halls, each an independent structure. Verizon Hall is the structure you see in the lower photo, and is constructed completely out of wood in the shape of a cello. It's the home of the orchestra, and is state-of-the-art acoustically, able to be "tuned" for different types and configurations of performances. The smaller hall is the Perlman Theater (visible in the upper photo and to the left in the lower photo), which is also flexible in terms of configuration and accoustics, and is home to, e.g., the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia. There are also smaller recital halls. They do have jazz concerts in the Kimmel Center--recently Sonny Rollins. And the old Academy of Music (oldest opera house in the world, and formerly the home of the Philadelphia Orchestra) has been or is being renovated/restored, and is still operating 2 blocks from the Kimmel Center.
  16. Here's the RVG Series catalog on the Blue Note Site: RVG Series catalog.
  17. Jazzmoose may have something to say about that--not to mention his wife.

  19. I'd like to know where the hell everybody fits these thousands of CD's.
  20. I've been in my new house for over three months now but I still have all deliveries made to the office. For a couple of reasons: 1) security - I have far fewer concerns now that I have my own place, but there is still a degree of risk with something sitting outside all day 2) I am at the office during the day when the delivery is made and can play whatever I get right out of the box. No waiting until the end of the day. You forgot 3) I have time to plan exactly how I'm going to get this latest Mosaic box onto the shelves before the wife realizes it's here, reducing the chance of her noticing I've bought another one... Jazzmoose's wife on the trail of a newly purchased Mosaic:
  21. If it did, I'd have my wife here in a nanosecond.
  22. Alan, Why can't you get them to make it 8 bucks for US? But it is! $ 8 for the Sam Rivers Trio $ 7 for Steven Bernstein $ 5 for Uri Caine $10 for being in an "Art Center" = $30 total You must be the guy responsible for lowering the Wage Tax.
  23. If you're into glass, you might try something along the lines of this design: That's the new Kimmel Center in Philly, home to the Philadelphia Orchestra, so you know the acoustics should also work for YOU. Here's an indoor shot, so you can start planning where to put your Mosaics:
  24. You make this post: in a thread titled Worst Albums, which you started, so I assume you understand the premise. How is that not saying you consider GO one of the worst? I didn't mean it as THE WORST. I stated Go, then explained why I never dug it. I guess I should of been more specific, and it's my bad. But, now you know. I dont think of it as one of THE WORST BN's. See what kind of trouble you get into when you cut school for the day?
