  1. Are we SURE that isn't really Gary Coleman?
  2. To be produced by Ken Burns?
  3. So then, which company developed the soprano-sax-playing robot?
  4. SHIPPING ALERT: This set has been removed from the "Upcoming Release" category on the Mosaic site as of today and, more significantly, my credit card was charged today for my preorder! Something tells me I'll be listening to this set REAL soon.
  5. this is like the quest for the grail!!! Sorry, no Pee Wee Marquette yet. Will another Pee Wee do in the meantime?

I already cited Louie above, but he's certainly worth mentioning more than once.
  7. Two-timing his own trumpet!

Alan, if you live in the neighborhood I think you do, then I live one neighborhood over from you. BTW, to you and Hoppy, the Dec. 2004/Jan. 2005 issue of Tracks has a 2-page spread (132-133) about Philly music landmarks. FWIW, it says the neighborhood of Coltrane's house is Brewerytown, and not Strawbery Mansion. Either way, I'm sure the difference in boundaries is a matter of blocks.
  9. WTF? Actually, I think I would be most interested in the home movies. Things like that are wonderful. As I indicated on another BB, I will be shoveling snow outside MY house in Philadelphia this weekend, and would be glad to make home video of it available for auction, in case anyone's interested.
  10. Don't worry--looks like you have plenty backed up in your system. Or maybe you're just excited because it's Inauguration Day.

I didn't know what CCCD meant. I did a Google search and discovered CCCD = Copy Control CD. I thought he was suggesting that they've gone commie. Oh wait, that's a "D" not a "P." Google is a wonderful thing. Although the old CCCP was into copy control, also.
  12. Who forgot to give Allen his medication today???
  13. Don't forget this one--Duke may not have met a head of state, but he did pretty well with a Count:
  14. That dilated pupil makes me wonder what someone's been smoking.
  15. I think I'll bid on Bird's horn! If everyone on the board chips in, maybe we can bid on one of his reeds.
  16. What's the penalty if you're convicted of Felonius Monk?
  17. You guys are such morons--it's so incredibly easy to organize an entire jazz collection. I don't know why you make it so friggin' complicated. All you do is put your Herb Alpert first, followed by your Pete Fountain, your Al Hirt, and your Boots Randolph. I personally keep all my Kenny G separate for easier access.
  18. Of course THAT was easy!!! We thought you were asking about the DOG!!!
  19. Are you kidding??? I'm in the Bluest city in a Blue State--and glad to be here!
  20. Any collector worth his salt SHOULD know that primary colors ALWAYS go BEFORE the pastels.
  21. Given the eager anticipation of his Mosaic set readily apparent on this board, I think HIS "spam" would be more than welcome here.
  22. So when's the "About sex in Michigan . . ." thread going to start?

Luigi Paulino Alfredo Francesco Antonio Ballesoni . . . . . . AKA Louie Bellson.
  24. I went to see B,S, & T in 1975 at the legendary (notorious?) Latin Casino in Cherry Hill, NJ. There was hardly anyone in the place (a large room similar to those in the big Vegas hotels). David Clayton Thomas sang ONE SONG, and then left the stage. The band then made the excuse that he had a sore throat and couldn't continue to sing, and they then performed maybe 3 or 4 more songs without him before ending the show. The few of us in the audience felt supremely jipped, and had the feeling that David and the band were just disgusted at the poor turnout. So, even by 1975, they were already on the skids.
