As if that ever stopped you before.

Mosaic cofirmed a few years ago that the Selects are NOT distributed in numerical order (in fact, the newer Selects aren't even numbered, and the older ones were mechanically numbered during manufacture). The individually numbered big boxes, however, ARE generally sold in numerical order (they are assigned the next sequential number by computer--and that number is hand-written in the booklet--at the time of sale).

Which Mosaic Are You Enjoying Right Now?
Ron S replied to Soulstation1's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
Allen, I would try to explain it to you, but it involves quantum mechanics, existentialism, and a working knowledge of ancient Sumerian gerunds. I don't think you're quite up to it. -

Glad I bought that one when it came out. Good luck - will keep my eyes peeled for a copy and let you know if I see 'an opening'. Thanks!

Still no luck here on the Johnny Richards front.
-
I suspect that many of those are actually not in stock--I called about the Richards, and it's not. I'd recommend contacting them regarding stock status before--or even after--placing an order. The good news is that they don't charge your credit card until they ship, if I recall correctly.

Great! Just sent an email inquiry. I have a copy of the Richards Select on order with Borders using a 25%-off coupon, but the web site says it's on 2-week backorder, so I'm doubtful it will ever come. I'd gladly cancel that order if Ron (how can you go wrong with someone named Ron? ) comes through. EDIT: Just noticed that the Borders site now says 4-8 weeks! I guess they're just transitioning to "no longer available."

Perhaps not? http://jazzman4133.stores.yahoo.net/johricsel.html Thanks! Actually, I came across that in my Googling, but was a bit wary given the no-credit-card/no-PayPal policy (only cash or checks), and lack of location/address info. Any experience with this seller?

Meanwhile, the cheapest Johnny Richards is $85.22.

I keep striking out on the Richards. Maybe I should email Cindy?

I just called Keenzo myself. I had ordered the Bud Shank and John Patton sets yesterday. Apparently the Shank is also a no-go, but the woman said she could send me the Patton. At least that's something! Since I jumped into ordering from this site much quicker than I usually do with an online site, hopefully my partial refund won't prove to be an issue... I don't think they actually charge your card until they ship. Only preauthorization occurs at time of order.

Gee, thanks for your support.

I tried ordering the Johnny Richards from them yesterday when it was still listed as "low stock." Unfortunately, a telephone call to them today revealed that it actually was not in stock (and my order was automatically cancelled). I'd suggest that anyone else placing an order make a similar call. For what it's worth, the Johnny Richards was listed as "out of stock" when I checked the the other titles that are noted in my previous post. (still listed as "low stock") I just checked my bank and an authorization has been made on my account for the amount of the Bob Brookmeyer Select I ordered yesterday. Not to pick nits, but my purchase of the Richards yesterday was also immediately authorized by my credit card company, and the out-of-stock status was apparently not discovered until my call today when the customer service rep placed me on hold, and returned to tell me that the distributor (whom I assume is the same for all the Selects) actually doesn't have any stock. I hope the situation is different with the Brookmeyer, et al., but I'd still suggest making a call (Keenzo's phone number is available on the site) to verify that they're really available.

Errr... She might be reading this I hope so! I think we all love Cindy.

Well THAT certainly puts a damper on things! :blush2:

MOSAIC SELECT AVAILABILITY ALERT Several of the now-OOP Selects appear to be available at a reasonable price ($43.71 + $5.60 shipping) on this site: http://www.keenzo.com/ Search for "Mosaic Select," and also for some individual artists (e.g., Dexter Gordon) who don't appear in the "Mosaic Select" search results, for some reason. As always, carpe diem. EDIT: The Gordon Select
-
I received a shipping notice for the Gordon Select, also, even though I was told by someone at Mosaic AFTER I placed my order that it had been listed on the web site in error, and that I would be receiving notice that it was in fact unavailable. In the interim, I ordered another copy from Amazon Marketplace, and if I receive both, I'll have a copy available for someone here. I'll post in this thread if that comes to pass (no PMs until then, please ).
-
Remember, folks, that the OOP Selects may still be available from other sources at fairly reasonable prices, such as the Gordon and the Shank/Cooper (also check Ebay, DeepDiscount.com, Buy.com, etc.). But I wouldn't wait too long on those.
-
That's for pointing that out. I just ordered one. We'll see what happens. I did too. But I then called Mosaic and was told that it is, indeed, sold out. Incidentally, the Gordon Select, like virtually all of the others, is still available from other sources (Amazon Marketplace, Ebay, etc.), and often for less than the shipped price from Mosaic. But who knows how much longer they'll continue to be available, given this news.
