  1. Yes, the jazz avant garde didn't go down to well with squares. In the 60s when staying with unhip friends I had to keep the volume right down when playing Ornette's "This Is Our Music". All the same, the lady of the house said "I think I hear the baby crying" and rushed upstairs to the soundly sleeping infant.
  2. Heard politician Kenneth Clarke talking on the radio about seeing them at Ronnie's.

I shouldn't have said "I don't think it's Grant Stewart" as it is Grant Stewart. The track is "Junka" from John Marshall's album Frisky, recorded in 2004 with Tardo Hammer, John Goldsby and Jimmy Wormworth. "Junka" is by Sonny Clark and its first phrase is very reminiscent of "Milestones" (first version), but then it goes its own way.

Ralph Lalama has recorded with John Marshall, so is it he?

Track 2 I'm guessing a more or less contemporary revival of an earlier sound. John Marshall with a Dutch tenorman? I don't think it's Grant Stewart.
