Sorry to say it, but my cat doesn't react at all to music. Sounds, yes - particularly the sound of dry cat food tinkling into his metal feeding dish.

I only knew Swana's and Landham's names, I suppose because the others are solely Philly based, but it's music of the highest standard. Do I recall that this one got the Larry Kart seal of approval? Enjoyed the heck out of both of those Swana-Philly albums. Those tenor men, and the the rhythm section, and Swana too of course. Larry Kart A considerable research project, which I'm not prepared to undertake at the moment.

I missed another opportunity of seeing Joey some years ago, when he was at the Wigan Jazz Festival. A friend who went said that at the end of the final climactic number showman Joey rose to his feet, turned round and plonked his huge behind on the keyboard . Festival organiser, Ian Darrington, who'd hired a top-grade expensive instrument for the occasion, was seen to have kittens. (Apologies if this is a UK-only expression.)
