  1. I hope either France or Brazil will demolish the Portuguese on Wednesday
  2. Portugal's goalie has won the game for them. Terrific penalty stopper!
  3. Well, the "little pisser" has done it: Portugal win on penalties.
  4. Eusebio is low profile here, but Pele should be left off the screen for his own good. The guy obviously isn't wearing any clothes and every time he opens his mouth and presents one of his no-content open-door comments to the world, I could bite another piece out of some furniture. Do you have any furniture left? well, I could bite away at the furniture, but in the end I usually decide to down another beer, hum real loud and roll my eyes. Must be real noisy, up there in Stralsund...

Do you have any furniture left? As a regular visitor to Org, I doubt it...
  6. 0-0 after extra time. On to penalties - again...

  8. Full time: England 0, Portugal 0; we're going into extra time again (sigh...)
  9. Couw's Hall of Shame: Maradona, Ronaldo (the Portuguese variant). What about Pele, who can hardly be avoided on German TV, and Eusebio? Seriously, you're right, this is nauseating.
  10. Neither team deserve to win this abysmal game. Unfortunately, one will, but will hopefully get beaten by either Brazil or France on Wednesday.
  11. You never know, but I doubt it. The quality of his football doesn't quite convince me - and that's putting it mildly...
  12. Moron of the year ! Couldn't agree more.
  13. I hadn't noticed Beckham until he was substituted... Red card for Rooney for kicking a Portuguese in the balls... OUCH... What a poor game...
  14. And that says a lot about the game... (yawn)
  15. Frankly, I didn't see any stellar team, maybe some episodes, but this is not the best WC I saw in my life, and I started watch football in 1970. Well, the first World Cup I watched was the 1958 tournament in Sweden (Final: Brazil with Pele 5, Sweden 2; France came third, with top scorer Just Fontaine) and I've seen them all - more or less, you obviously can't watch everything. The current tournament is certainly not the best one ever, mr Blatter! Spain 1982 and France 1998 were better in my view, and so was Germany 1974 (of course )
  16. I haven't watched the Italy-Ukraine game, so I can't comment on that. I've only seen snippets afterwards, and, though the Italians seemed to be playing OK, they didn't quite impress me. With Argentina and Spain out, Brazil and England playing as they do, France looking tired and aged despite their defeat of Spain, and Germany playing better than I had expected but not quite good enough (they depend too much on Ballack and their defense is very shaky), I find the tournament a lot less interesting.
  17. It was war time in ARGENTINA at the time. A civil war. Bring GERMANY for a counter exemple is a littlle harsh in this context. When NAZIS goes to "hunt" their people (jews, gypsis, communiste, gay and who ever try to resit to their ideology, it wasn't war either. This "hunt" begins six years before that the second world war started. Don't get exactly what you try to say here, but EUROPE is not a counter example for anythyng, friend. AMERICA'S either, I 'm afraid I've some good ARGENTINIANS friends who are not interested by soccers but by music, art, ltterature and who share EXACTLY my idea in life in general ans in politics in particular who are among the best people I have ever know. You can had some CHILLIAN TOO among these friends. A really silly post. No politics here, please. There's a forum for that.
  18. In my view Pekerman should have brought Messi instead of Cruz. Messi is a far more creative player, and that's just what Argentina needed.
  19. I agree. The quality of football was increasingly disappointing on both sides. The luckiest team won.
  20. Germany win 4-2 on penalties and go through to the Semifinals.
  21. 1-1 after extra time. A very scrappy game at the end. Penalties...
  22. Full time: 1-1. We're going into extra time, 2 x 15 minutes - no golden goal.
  23. With 10 minutes to go: Germany 1, Argentina 1; goal by Klose. It's become a very chaotic game, with bad passing and defensive mistakes. Still entertaining, though.
  24. A few minutes into the second half: Germany 0, Argentina 1; goal by Ayala.
  25. Half time, 0-0.
