  1. I wonder if they forgot to delete this when the new rules came info force on 1 July Dutch customs is clear about this: no such exception and I think it's an EU-wide rule, but maybe you're lucky. Please keep us posted. Maybe too much hassle for such a small shipment? Officials in the Netherlands complained about the amount of extra work that comes with the new VAT-rules for imports into the EU.
  2. As I understand it nothing is free anymore, VAT will be charged on everything that's imported into the EU, no matter if it's a gift from a friend valued under 45 euros, second-hand/used or whatever.
  3. Have you received it yet? How did it go?
  4. No idea how the current situation in the UK is, but for EU residents things have changed: from 1 July VAT is due on every item that is imported into the EU, regardless of its value; the 22 euro threshold has been abolished. I know this doesn't concern you since you're in the UK, but I thought I'd post this here anyway, it might be of interest to people here who live in the EU. I've used CDJapan's proxy service twice, but only for a few items I really wanted and couldn't get anywhere else. It was very expensive indeed and I also had to pay VAT on arrival.
  5. I hope Southgate will refrain from further World War II comments... Southgate WW II comments
  6. That's why I said "English fans", not "THE English fans" - there's a difference I used to be an anglophile, but I'm afraid that's a thing of the past... Going into that any further would get political, so I'll stop here.
  7. Haven't posted here, but watched most UEFA 2020 games and was not impressed by most teams, and that's putting it mildly. The Spanish and Italians were by far the best, and I really hope Italy win it on Sunday, the quality of their football should prevail over a rather mediocre English team - all in my view, of course The attitude of English fans disgusted me, that's all I want to say about it.
  8. For EU residents that wouldn't make a difference now that the 22 euros VAT-free threshold for imports from outside the EU has been abolished; from July 1 VAT is charged on all non-EU imports. I don't know how VAT on private imports is handled by UK Customs post-Brexit, but I understand VAT is due on all imports into the UK as well.
  9. Scott Wenzel told me they'll be setting up a warehouse to streamline order fulfillment and have a better way for international shipments to arrive as he put it. I also asked him about the disappearance of the "Running Low/Last Chance" page from their site and he said it'll be noted on the page of each available set when it's running low.
  10. Copyright was extended to 70 years in the EU; the UK was still an EU member state at the time, but I have no idea how the UK copyright situation is since Brexit. European mini states Andorra, San Marino, Monaco and Liechtenstein are not part of the EU. The EU countries are: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Republic of Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden. I'm not sure labels that are based in Andorra belong to the Fresh Sound family of labels; there is a connection, but I don't know exactly how.
  11. The Mosaic website will indeed get a new look. I had no problems accessing the "old" site a few minutes ago.
  12. A Wayne Shorter - and also a Bobby Hutcherson - 1960s BN Mosaic would be very nice, with a sound quality as good as on the recent but already OOP Mobley 1960s set. I'd get those in an instant
  13. If I remember correctly @erwbol doesn't like Steve Hoffman's masterings of the AP SACDs in general, so I guess he's not too fond of that one either.
  14. Just got a message from Jazz Messengers that the Henderson set is now out of stock at Mosaic (no update on Mosaic's website, though) and new stock is not expected until late July at the earliest.
  15. On another occasion I did ask them to reserve a copy, but they told me they don't do that anymore.
  16. The Henderson set is sold out at Jazz Messengers, and I was too late. They'll hopefully get new stock.
  17. You're in Italy (EU), so there'll be no customs charges if you ordered the set from Jazz Messengers, which is based in Spain (EU).
  18. Just checked again and it's still 129.98 euros. I think that's a bit steep for 5 CDs. Usually Jazz Messengers' prices for Mosaic sets are 20 euros per disc on average, but 26 euros...
  19. Jazz Messengers' Jorge told me last week they're expecting the Joe Henderson Mosaic this week, probably on or soon after Wednesday, May 26.
  20. This might interest EU residents who are thinking of getting the Joe Henderson Mosaic: just got a message from JazzMessengers, Barcelona, that they're expecting the JH set next week, probably Wednesday. No price was mentioned.
  21. Not only in Italy and France, jazz was (and still is) considered a true art form in Northern Europe as well. Like classical music it is taken seriously here.
  22. Very sorry to hear this sad news.
  23. Radio Due = Radio Two, and in most of Europe the 24-hour clock is used, 00:00-24:00, whereas most English-speaking countries use the 12-hour clock, AM and PM. So 22:15 is indeed 10:15 PM. In Italy that's CEST or Central European Summer Time ("daylight time" in the US), UTC+2.
  24. I pointed out to Scott Wenzel last week that some more recent sets are missing from their OOP list and he told me they're behind with the updating. It's not a priority.
