  1. Chuck, wc comes in one to three hours behind all the others, about nine behind Europe. A couple of other things that I have that really like alot. Black California (Savoy) Eddie Costa Art Farmer "In Their Own Sweet Way" (Premier)
  2. Thanks for the book recommendations! I've seen the Gioia book somewhere recently. I just picked up another Murakami novel though, so... Here's some of the stuff off the top of my head that are new to me that I've listened to over and over in the past year or so. Shelly Manne | The Three and The Two Duane Tatro | Jazz for Moderns Paul Desmond & Gerry Mulligan | Two of a Mind Jimmy Giuffre Three | Hollywood & Newport Live
  3. Well keep em coming! They don't have to be WCJ label either. I just thought thus would be a good place to consolidate Chewy West Coast recommendations. Im pretty ignorant about this whole scene.
  4. yeah, i don't either really. i don't know why. so much great shit there!
  5. I watched it, but had to run. Thanks for posting this. I had never heard Solal before! Don't feel too bad Shawn. I rarely get more than a handful of responses to threads...
  6. Your link doesn't work; I am aware of malware being installed from sites offering the alleged Erin Andrews video; I don't think anything happened in the short time I had no virus protection but I did find the Erin Andrews video without causing any harm (on Rapidshare, no "video player update" required). Oh well. It was buried in a political thread. Glad you picked up on the humor! I hope your computer heals nicely.
  7. Dan, did you not read the Erin Andrews post? Pap's did warn you.
  8. And I've seen people on the expressway, mostly women but also some men, combing their hair with both hands -- one hand combing, the other smoothing/patting things down. Also, of course, I've heard tell from one of the parties involved (quite reliably IMO) of a guy getting oral sex while driving at highway speeds. Let's pass a law on that one. Who was driving?
  9. Metadata would make a good name for some indie metal math rock band. Two synth players of course.
  10. In case anyone else is interested, this is a video of the first set. Video: Fight The Big Bull at Joe's Pub First Set
  11. whoa. what just happened?
  12. might be a good idea to reinforce the shelves by having lowes/homedepot cut a piece of plywood for you, then fasten to the back to support the weight.
  13. Chewy, I did a board search for West Coast recommendations and didn't see a specific thread. If anyone knows of one, please link it here. Anyway, I was hoping you could start a running thread here of some of your favorite West Coast sessions...
  14. The set is now archived. You can click here to listen to the full set. Their second album will be released on Clean Feed in February of next year.
  15. the bee is dead
  16. i'm listening back on the big bull set now. i recorded it with "free sound recorder", but it sounds like it will be posted to the allsongsconsidered site soon... they certainly aren't sex mob though!
  17. me neither... just found out about it today.
  18. i hope so. it flew by. five partial tunes...
  19. i've never heard sex mob. is the song they are playing now a good example?
