  1. I will buy every single one of the records you just listed. Lifetime subscriber. I love listening to you play for organissimo and this synth recording just made me realize how personal your concept is. Be you. I'm listening, and looking forward to hearing your concept expand. I don't know why I don't have the Root Doctor stuff.
  2. Marklin HO. My parents gave my borther and I a new car every year since I was seven. Every year, wherever we live, we make a point to go see the trains running during the Christmas season. Our set is good, but nothing compared to what they put in at the James Center downtown Richmond or Airlie Gardens Wilmington. Mesmerizing.
  3. Just beautiful. If I didn't know any better, I'd guess that VGM was a worldwide smash dancehall track. I am really touched by the beauty and the detail of this music. So much soul, feeling, emotion. I'm not at all familiar with synth music, but this album gives me a new ear. Total immersion of sound. Thank you Jim! I dare you to keep still during Khalimba!!! You are brilliant.
  4. Mine came today. I'll be listening bright and early tomorrow morning in the new car. Thanks Jim.
  5. I've always thought Lucky's soprano playing sounded similar to Rahsaan's manzello. I love both of them. Such a beautiful tone.
  6. I saw a report about this on 60 Minutes where the industry's talking head actually had the gall to exclaim that the rates hikes were justified because of the new bill. The bill doesn't even go into effect until Feb 2010 but rates go up immediately. Makes perfect sense. I am looking forward to the day when my wife and I have no credit cards. We're down to one. Goodness! A credit card seems to be essential for almost all transactions now. We never use the credit card to get credit - pay the whole amount every month before interest gets charged. But how can you go on holiday without a credit card? How can you buy stuff on the web? And so on and so on. MG Debit Card. We have a credit card in case of emergencies.
  7. Who in their right mind?! Roscoe on soprano//SNIP.
  8. My order arrived extremely quickly. Thank you Chuck for quality service and quality product.
  9. Just listened for the first time myself. Great!
  10. Is the Kimbrough Locke duet?
  11. needs a break.

'll say this: if you find that your amp is giving them enough volume (and unless you have a big room that may well be the case) then just hang with your amp, it's got great sound and you don't need a mini-Torii or Torii. A CSP2 would be a better upgrade, allowing you another input and more weight to the sound, tailorable via input and output gain controls. But even that isn't necessary if the amp gives you all the volume you need and you love the sound.

      I'm look...

  12. Flawless on iPhone. No flash, of course, but everything looks great and loads super fast even on edge network.
  13. enjoyed it. thanks for the link.
  14. Lots of stuff on these lists that I really look forward to checking out. Some of it is on order already... I'd like to hear more about this MMW project since this is the first I've read of it. WorldB3, what's the deal? Really want to get the Berman, Hawkins, and Rolldown releases as budget allows.
  15. Tiger just called. He asked me to let you know that Vonski Speaks WAS playing during the accident!
  16. I personally hope he stands his ground at this point. I'd love to see movie stars, musicians, athletes decline participation in all celeb gossip. People should go back to talking about people they actually know, repercussions and all. Aside from the golf puns, this thread is like, so, like... whatever, you know?! 17. Check out "Down With It" off of The Scene Changes.
  18. Chambers plays a fantastic arco solo on an uptempo tune on Bud Powell's The Scene Changes. I think it's the third tune.
  19. Exactly what my mother in law assumed when news broke yesterday!
  20. to be perfectly honest, those are two very boring bands on the whole. isn't that sort of their thing? oh well. Plenty of good rock music to go around but you just can't force it. Maybe Lanois? Blade is a pretty damned good drummer... as a U2 fan, Lanois should be a familiar name.
  21. Never heard the Pink Floyd/Wilco thing before; especially puzzling with regard to their early albums. Bol: Without trying too hard to get a grip on your taste, I still think you should be checking in to Yo La Tengo. Then again, "indie" trios might not be your thing at all. Would you be more of a Weezer fan? Kings of Leon? recent Flaming Lips? Raconteurs?
  22. Get the box set.
  23. Man, I would just go to your local shop and check the used bins. I have absolutely no problem recommending that you grab any Yo La Tengo that they have. Most of their albums from the early 1990s on will have enough of a variety to give you a good idea of what these three sound like. As for SY, I hope some other members will chime in. I don't honestly know where I would recommend you start. You can start with the most recent albums, skip a couple fromthe late 90s, and then work your way back , or vice-versa! Rather Ripped is a recent album that I would recommend as an ideal start, though not totally representative of the rest of their music.
  24. Tough to recommend contemporary rock groups based on The Police, U2, and REM, but I think Fountains of Wayne was a good recommendation for you. Probably Coldplay, Brendan Benson, Arctic Monkeys, The Decemberists, Conor Oberst (not Bright Eyes though), Rilo Kiley (and even Jenny Lewis' first solo possibly), Ryan Adams and The Cardinals, etc. Over the past year, multiple jazz musicians have recommended to me The Dirty Projectors. I like it.
