  1. i fail to understand, given that the Red Sox have won the World Series twice in the past 4 yours. Did you find reasons to complain about them even when they won the Series? I'll go out on a limb here: Undoubtably, he did.
  2. I've agreed with 95% of what you've said post game 7, Al, but I have to cry foul here. The reason at least half of RSN missed the ending of game 5 is the asinine TV schedule. Just to be fair, Sox fans typically stay to the end of every game and don't miss a pitch (live). But when your game starts an hour later than usual, particularly during the school year, that really screws east coast fans, and frankly, I'm a little sick of it.
  3. First and foremost, congrats to the Rays; I can say now that I believe the better team won. If Lowell & Ortiz are healthy and Youk is playing first, I might feel otherwise. But this M*A*S*H unit acquitted themselves well and have nothing to be ashamed of. Lester threw a helluva game, AS DID GARZA. I was thrilled to get him out of the game, but there's no scapegoat here -- that was great baseball. Coco came the closest to a mistake when he was caught up in the mindset of breaking up the DP, but that's very forgivable. Jimmy Young was on NECN this morning and said he expects the Sox will give the Captain a 2-year offer, which I think is the right deal if you make it clear that he's coming back to help the transition to a new direction. JV may have other ideas, though. After the game he was very emotional when asked if this was his last game as a member of the team. He's had a bitch of a year, on and off the field, and may just be ready. Tampa is an exciting, deep team (I mean Hinske is not even on the ROSTER! - a mistake if they don't change that for next series). Garza stepped up big time last night, and my hat is off to him -- he really pitched a helluva game. I was not in love with the home plate ump (wish McLelland had stayed behind for this one, too), but I don't think he can be blamed for the game's results, either. He made gaffs that hurt both teams, but nothing of game-changing proportions. I'm still not convinced Drew swung at the ball, but Bay definitely did, and frankly, I'm not sure Drew was going to catch up to that nasty shit Price was throwing. I'll be rooting for Tampa Bay in the series (a big change because, Sox notwithstanding, I route NL), but I think Philly is going to roast them. Either way, it's going to be an exciting matchup (and I'll probably miss half of it because I won't have the guilt of going to bed on the home team!).
  4. Wow, Jack. I'm surprised by this. There were a few of those I figured *only* you would get. In fact, I believe you may have been in attendance for that James Williams show. Most people went to the Thursday show, which featured one of the Eubanks, but I forget which. In the future, my BFTs will probably lean more to the inside. As I say, this was made from what was on my laptop at the moment... also, I was still reeling from Berigan's BFT, that royally kicked my ass and hurt my feelings.
  5. No THAT (strike 'em out/throw 'em out DP) was a stupid fahkin' play! What the hell were they thinking?! Good news is that's likely the game for Garza. Even if he starts the 7th, he likely won't finish it. Provided Lester and the pen can keep things intact, this game is still very much wide open. This is what a Game 7 should be!
  6. Thanks. I think a big part of the low participation was that I went WAY into uncharted territory. I built this from music on my laptop, and did it to get it done and going as quickly as possible. I still think it was a good test, but I can see why a lot of people wouldn't guess. But I figured I'd at least get that sort of feedback. No matter, I'm going to sign up for another, because they're fun! I was interested to hear the guesses to see the guesses, that's all.

  8. I like the guesses, but no is the response to all (though I really like the 8 Bold Souls guess). Per request of Big Al, I'm going to post an answer thread; I'll post it separately in case anybody still wants to give a shot at this. I'll also leave the links active.
  9. This sets me up to comment on the record setting number of double entendres from Buck Martinez. Now, it helps that I was watching with 2 of the most sophomoric minds on the planet, but when he talked about how Varitek, "Straps it on every night," we missed about a half inning laughing. That notwithstanding, I really like his insights and commentary. So, the over under on Martinez' Dierdorffesque double entendres this evening? I'm going to say it's about 13, and I'll take the over.
  10. Or we could man-up and beat them by playing better baseball, beating their best with our best.
  11. That's just weak. You're either in or your out -- the bandwagon is leaving.
  12. Seriously. How many TV's in Red Sox Nation were turned off before the bottom of the 7th?? Mine was, but it had nothing to do with the score. It was a combination of my 5:35AM start time and what was waiting in the interim between the sheets! I haven't seen the 9th inning of a playoff game during the week this season. MLB needs to remove its collective head from its ass. Why are they so worried about west coast prime time viewers? This is an east coast series! I know MLB does not own the networks, but they sign the contracts. Asses.
  13. Interesting... wonder if these potential suitors would still be interested if they knew Manny walked up to Jerry Remy before a game last year and said, "One more year." Only six-year "contract" he should get is at Leavenworth, for fraud!
  14. F*ckin'-A right!
  15. Right! Your mother's ass, Dan!
  16. Okay... Delcarmen basically sucked it, but then, those who've watched this year knew that would be the case because, well... he sucks. (He doesn't suck, he's just inconsistent as hell, which, as a reliever translates to, he sucks.) Anyway, Francoma then chooses Javey I'm-petrified-of-coming-into-a-game-with-men-on-base Lopez to piss gasoline on the fire. Jesus H. Fucking Grady Goddamned Little, is this fucking moron ever going to GET IT!? No matter, we've got them right where we want them! This is what we do. We'll piss napalm and shit fire all over that sad-ass dome and take this fucker anyway! (Okay, I'm actually shitting my pants, but in the name of Eddie Freakin' Andelman, I BELIEVE!!!!!!!)
  17. Yeah, if they don't win tonight, this is over, just like with the Indians last... oh... wait... but, really, if they don't win it'll be just like it was against the Skanks in '04... oh... no... hmmm... nevermind. IT AIN'T OVER TILL IT'S FREAKIN' OVER!
  18. Now what are YOU smokin'?
  19. To quote George Hamilton in LOVE AT FIRST BITE: "I do not, smoke, shit." It's called reality and not jumping off the bridge at the drop of a dime. I'm guessing you're not a chess player. I can just see you wailing away incoherently at the first loss of a pawn. Get a grip, dude.
  20. Sox will win Game 4, which -- at the moment -- is all they need to worry about. Fully expect NL series to head back to Philly, albeit briefly. Last night sucked for the home team, but you had to feel good for Rocco.
  21. Yes , he will ! I thought so, too. The players vote on winner's shares, so I guess it's possible they could cut him out. But the ring, I did wonder if he was entitled regardless of what anyone in the Red Sox organization might think about it. And I can't imaging the players not voting him a share. That would establish a bad precedent, I'd think. I believe he would get the ring, but the team is under no obligation to provide one. I remember they gave Nomar one in '04, but he didn't want it. I'm sure the Sox would give him one, but not because they are REQUIRED to.
  22. I don't know about that. Dodgers have better starting pitching, Phillies better hitting. And we all know what good pitching does to good hitting. Clearly. Their pitching is so much better that they were down 0-2. The Phillies are the better team, all that remains is to see if the games bear that out.
  23. I'd rather face Philly, but precisely because I believe they are the better team, and I'd like to beat the best. Getting to Balfour last night was very important. It will be interesting to see how he reacts; will he rebound and move on, or will he have a Kazmir-like implosion. I'd like to see the latter, just for the novelty of it. I'm okay with the split; and yeah, Becket sucked it and I continue to rue the day Hanley Ramirez was sent packing for that fat fuck. People like to point out that he was a big part of last year's Series victory. I like to respond that Ramirez may be the best player in the national league, and having him one mean, 1) Money available to get a front line starter, 2) No money wasted on Lugo, 3) No fucking Lugo! I've yet to figure the negatives of keeping Ramirez. You could have acquired Lowell anyway, and even more important, perhaps you could have gotten Becket for less. No matter, what's done is done, and we're stuck with Lugo for two more years. But I digress. I still say the Sox take the ALCS handily and the WS, nearly as handily.
  24. Yup, that seems right. Not sure what to tell you. I go to the wimpy player, choose Blindfold Test #59, but track 05 is definitely the track you're describing as track 7. Track 7 is soprano saxophone.
