  13. Interesting. As a record dealer, I've run across her records dozens of times. I guess I've wondered how somebody who is so completely unknown would have gotten to make so many records. And the records usually have good graphics, not the amatuer look of most vanity pressings. This explains it. They were freebies!

  19. This is one of my favorite Monk albums - sublime arrangements by Hall Overton. Loved it on vinyl, and was really happy to get the complete concert on CD.

    His music isn't really in any category. He makes jazz references in some of the titles, and he recorded for Prestige, largely a jazz label, but his music is not improvised. I never got to see him on the streets of New York, but I do remember seeing him on the Tonight Show when his first Columbia album was released. I played him on the air several times, and always got calls, so I guess his music was compatible with jazz.
