  1. I love a good countdown. Still on the site...
  2. My LP is mono. Is the CD mono or stereo?
  3. Speaking of Wes, how much of his live stuff has had any kind of circulation? I have one live LP on Charly which has a fantastic version of Here Comes That Rainy Day. The whole recording has a little bit more life about it than the Riversides I have heard, even the live (Tsubo [?]) Riverside.
  4. Not even Django? Or Wes? I suppose my recommendations of Keiji Haino have had no impact? Wow. I pressed the 'Quote' button but I think I should have hit 'Report!'
  5. heh heh well, we have to put up with all their silly record titles!
  6. I don't agree there. CD reissues of vinyl will eventually lose their value as the material they contain becomes cheaply available in streaming media, perhaps with downloadable artwork and notes. LPs on the other hand will still be original artefacts and will not lose value, at least where the condition is good and the artist is collectable. Ok a bit off topic I know. As far as Moscaic goes, the real benefit of these sets always was to be able to hear material from several original vinyl issues without having to pay the likely cost of even one of those issues if bought in auction. The music is not always good because the emphasis is on completeness. These are aimed at collectors who want to own it all but access selectively. Few of the sets are in that sense indispensable. All that is fine and as it should be, but there is no point in expecting hours of gems from lesser artists (often in their lesser periods).
  7. When are we going to get back to Funny Rat? Sometimes you people really get off topic. How do you think the Brotzmeister and the uberHanosan would feel if they came to check out their thread?
  8. I've got the Atlantic one - is that different?
  9. This film is so bound to be over the top - I'm not sure i could stomach it.
  10. I can hardly believe this set is coming. I am delighted!!!!
  11. If you will only be satisfied by 'proof' one way or the other, then you will never be satisfied, and you can't really ask others to take responsibility for your decision at this level. My best guess is that resale value of copy protected CDs will be lower, because distrust of the technology is likely to become widespread as more and more people put them into PCs and car stereos, and audiophile collectors won't touch them. Before long this technology will be superseded and disks carrying this technology will look old fashioned and undesirable.
  12. I registered so that I could post on the copy protection thread. I know that some (perhaps more naturally subservient?) posters think that all complaining is just whining, but I wouldn't drink new flavor coke and I won't swallow this either.
  13. You know what? There's a new site there, all unspoiled and tempting... my trigger finger is itching...
  14. I missed the punchline.
  15. I'd like to have the vinyl. True Blue advertised a Japanese vinyl of this in their catalogue, but when I asked them for it they couldn't supply it. I am hoping there are still copies out there, somewhere...
  16. On the plus side, BNBB Europe could be a useful place to vent about copy control. I was also thinking that, since we know where all the old BNBB material is in cyberspace, I would sign up under all of the old handles and then painstakingly reconstruct the old board by entering every single post individually on BNBBE, time delayed by five years, day by day, so 14 Feb 1999 becomes 14 Feb 2004 and so on day after day... It could work! Don't all rush to help me.
  17. Hey! We haven't all got the patience to track down all the OOP TOCJ!! My Sam Rivers' vinyls all sound pretty good though. (Actually they are all shot but I can't let on to that now, can I?) PS It is very important to talk down the merits of TOCJ -- otherwise we end up talking up the market value. Seriously, my only point is to remind people that titles they seem to yearn for are only an email away.
  18. Some of the titles which people mention are already out (or about to come out) as JRVGs. I'd say if you really want to hear these titles just email Hiroshi Tanno and get them whizzing through the air to your door. It is a lot quicker and easier than campaigning for them as domestic issues which will be slightly cheaper. I think in any case that if sales permit some of the current JRVGs will come through as RVGs - this is already (apparently) happening with Fuchsia Swing Song, so maybe the other Hills (Smokestack, Judgment) and the missing Mclean will be on their way soon. . And I'd say anyone who wants Contours should just buy the Mosaic which I see someone has for sale on this board at an excellent price.
  19. I'll settle for a single solitary bean.
  20. I occasionally upgrade from CD to vinyl - but never the other way round!
  21. The Hayes will sell out really quickly - the last ones did.
  22. You're killing us. Spill the beans!
  23. I don't know how you found that! Were you checking the HMV site just in case they had some rip-off Von Freemans? Well I am hoping that someone unearthed a stash of legitimate copies... I'm looking forward to hearing more about this - if it isn't a secret, that is...
  24. This is a really good disk musically. A rare trumpet quartet record from Blue Note! The JRVG is fine and clear, though I find the balance odd, with the trumpet a little under-present and the bass too full. Even despite my usual JRVG reservations, I'd say buy this one.
