  1. I've got the Atlantic one - is that different?
  2. Well I am with everyone on the absence of the Gilmore solos. That said, who knows, maybe they weren't very good, or didn't really fit the context? However, even if they don't work I agree that for me as for most people it would be a priority to have these.
  3. This film is so bound to be over the top - I'm not sure i could stomach it.
  4. I can hardly believe this set is coming. I am delighted!!!!
  5. If you will only be satisfied by 'proof' one way or the other, then you will never be satisfied, and you can't really ask others to take responsibility for your decision at this level. My best guess is that resale value of copy protected CDs will be lower, because distrust of the technology is likely to become widespread as more and more people put them into PCs and car stereos, and audiophile collectors won't touch them. Before long this technology will be superseded and disks carrying this technology will look old fashioned and undesirable.
  6. I registered so that I could post on the copy protection thread. I know that some (perhaps more naturally subservient?) posters think that all complaining is just whining, but I wouldn't drink new flavor coke and I won't swallow this either.
  7. You know what? There's a new site there, all unspoiled and tempting... my trigger finger is itching...
  8. I missed the punchline.
  9. I'd like to have the vinyl. True Blue advertised a Japanese vinyl of this in their catalogue, but when I asked them for it they couldn't supply it. I am hoping there are still copies out there, somewhere...
  10. On the plus side, BNBB Europe could be a useful place to vent about copy control. I was also thinking that, since we know where all the old BNBB material is in cyberspace, I would sign up under all of the old handles and then painstakingly reconstruct the old board by entering every single post individually on BNBBE, time delayed by five years, day by day, so 14 Feb 1999 becomes 14 Feb 2004 and so on day after day... It could work! Don't all rush to help me.
  11. Hey! We haven't all got the patience to track down all the OOP TOCJ!! My Sam Rivers' vinyls all sound pretty good though. (Actually they are all shot but I can't let on to that now, can I?) PS It is very important to talk down the merits of TOCJ -- otherwise we end up talking up the market value. Seriously, my only point is to remind people that titles they seem to yearn for are only an email away.
  12. Some of the titles which people mention are already out (or about to come out) as JRVGs. I'd say if you really want to hear these titles just email Hiroshi Tanno and get them whizzing through the air to your door. It is a lot quicker and easier than campaigning for them as domestic issues which will be slightly cheaper. I think in any case that if sales permit some of the current JRVGs will come through as RVGs - this is already (apparently) happening with Fuchsia Swing Song, so maybe the other Hills (Smokestack, Judgment) and the missing Mclean will be on their way soon. . And I'd say anyone who wants Contours should just buy the Mosaic which I see someone has for sale on this board at an excellent price.
  13. I'll settle for a single solitary bean.
  14. I occasionally upgrade from CD to vinyl - but never the other way round!
  15. The Hayes will sell out really quickly - the last ones did.
  16. You're killing us. Spill the beans!
  17. I don't know how you found that! Were you checking the HMV site just in case they had some rip-off Von Freemans? Well I am hoping that someone unearthed a stash of legitimate copies... I'm looking forward to hearing more about this - if it isn't a secret, that is...
  18. This is a really good disk musically. A rare trumpet quartet record from Blue Note! The JRVG is fine and clear, though I find the balance odd, with the trumpet a little under-present and the bass too full. Even despite my usual JRVG reservations, I'd say buy this one.
  19. Joking aside, I have become aware of a supply of the Applause issue of this CD. I have never seen one and can't vouch for the quality. The cost is £5 plus postage from the supplier (who is not me). This guy has other applause CDs such as the two rare and undesirable Turrentines. I don't know anything about Applause CD issues.
  20. To my mind there is a difference between CD players shown up by the highest quality amp and speakers (mine are a bit old fashioned - I don't own the highest end gear, but I have auditioned it). However it is also my opinion that very high quality amps and speakers show up the (severe) limitation of the CD source no matter how good the CD player being used. The limitation on CD is inherent in the medium and the set up however good can't overcome this. In fact the greatest set ups bother me because they expose the limitations of the source. I am just not a true audiophile!
  21. Well I laid in a few spares - you never know when the urge will take you - plus in the event of an unanticpated nuclear winter maybe one or more of my copes might wear out, you never know...
  22. I got a good price for a copy on ebay and now have another - I am deciding what to do with it.
  23. trade... hmm. Good point. I can't understand why this one hasn't been out since the CC issue - not even in Japan (AFAIK)
  24. You got me - I was just going back to edit the post...
