  1. I'm liking what I'm hearing...
  2. You can keep the reward I'd just as soon stay... (ok you heard that before) I once owned this:
  3. Also here at 55.25 with slightly more clips http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b08cq5kx
  4. I heard a clip on the radio this morning. It sounded amazing. The owner of the tapes seemed to have done precisely nothing about releasing them, but lets hope he investigates that.

  6. My mileage does vary. MG basically does not have a jazz background and never really sounds like a 'freed' jazz musician.
  7. I have MG down as a free player, but not a free jazz player. So he didn't come out of jazz, which makes a big difference.
  8. MG calls it an "archive", and as with any archive you probably can't use it all. Such a collection *can* in principle find its way into an institutional special collection of some kind, but such things need to be carefully arranged in advance. I wonder what happened for example to (late British DJ) John Peel's collection of independent rock etc., surely the biggest of its kind in the world.
  9. I'd never seen that Free Improvisation set on Deutsche Grammophon before.

  11. They seem to be on a roll. Let's hope.
  12. Hat records has been taken over by outthere: https://static.homepagetool.ch/var/m_1/17/17f/75006/7754868-Outhere-acquires-HatHut.pdf
  13. Thank you!
  14. I saw that Crazy Jazz listed a load of Black & Blue titles. http://www.crazyjazz.co.uk/labels/b/blackandblue.htm I'm guessing this is some old stock or something, but I wonder if anybody here kniws more about these "reissues" or has comments on the titles.
  15. I was hoping we had said goodbye to the recorded music "industry", but back they come, with their "albums" and "hits"...
  16. And the master is any tape used to master an LP. It Is not the session tape.
  17. The journal Jazz Music, which started publication in 1943, is the newsletter of what called itself the Jazz Sociological Society. Early days for such thinking, in the UK at least. Very interesting that it started up in 1943...
  18. This is just a fascinating archive, for the types of conversation going on, for the people, even for the typeface and layout. So atmospheric, and such an interesting sort of history.
  19. Some fascinating scans to be found here: http://archive.nationaljazzarchive.co.uk/archive/journals
  20. In the past Mosaic packages to me had a declared value of $5/disc.
  21. Between the shipping and the tax and duty...and if Mosaic are now declaring the a total cost as opposed to the nominal value...hard to justify for me any more...
  22. Oops I deleted mine, but for the benefit of those who missed it I basically said I find all the laborious listing depressing....
