  1. Their front-page statement reads a bit nostalgic and bitter. Things change Dipping back into titles I once had and sold, as well as a few others, I find this catalog quite faded, even beyond the usual warnings about ECM as MOR comfort listening. At least the appearance on Spotify protects me from any nostalgic repurchasing on my own part!
  2. You need to grow your carbon footprint!
  3. Does anyone know where this set was planned and made?
  4. Any teenagers here care to give their opinion about this box?
  5. Those youths and their CD collections, eh?
  6. Have a good one, Guy.
  7. The Smithsonian I suppose. I should think they get a lot of calls from collectors. Maybe not so many archival visits. There’s your problem, by the way.
  8. Some albums are just good: That or "Introducing..."
  9. Who cuts his hair? Sorry. Styles. Who styles his hair.
  10. Thanks for the heads up. Though I've almost given up on CDs I'll be back in for...the two least interesting albums here! I can't stop myself.
  11. I know. The LPs were already too much and by the time we got the restored solos and extra tracks...
  12. PS - also nice to hear FG on tenor!
  13. Nice broadcast - thank you. The interview with FG is very good and maybe worth writing up.
  14. Interesting documents. Not just a question of contract of course, but of prevailing national laws.
  15. I remember Last Train Home very well. Hilarious! Um, thanks for reminding me...
  16. But...CDs? Not any more.
  17. Just to add to the library discussion, my most recent CD purchases (£0.79 a throw) were from ex-library stock dumped wholesale at the charity shop.
  18. It costs literally nothing to donate what you have, but the costs of storing and cataloging are very high. And donors are not usually offering to meet those in perpetuity even if anyone wanted our old tat. The reason for ditching CDs is very often the space costs, which trump the notional value of the collection even to the collector her or himself.
  19. Donations to a library are sold off. They do not go on the shelves.
  20. Amazon take a cut, the actual packing and shipping costs are more than amazon lets you charge, I have to drive to the post ofiice... and I'm busy!
  21. When seliing jazz I have placed items worth over £25 on amazon (just about worth packing and taking to post office) and sold the rest to a store. Classical generally aren't worth much though, as you know.
