  1. I don't know if Marian McPartland was mentioned. I'm not really a fan of her's that much. From what I heard of her recently, it was pretty much boring. Her earlier recordings were much better.
  2. This might just be my first Mosaic, if everything goes well.
  3. Seems every popular jazz album, is "The best selling jazz album of all time." I've heard Kind Of Blue, Time Out, The In Crowd, A Love Surpreme, and many more, as "The best selling jazz album of all time." What's up with that.
  4. I love his tone. With bassits like Charlie Mingus, and Paul Chambers, you can hear the strings vibrate, and what not, for lack of a better term. With Percy, its so clear, all you hear is the notes. Very clean and controlled.
  5. He lives on Long Island, very close to me. He's been at a couple of festivals around here. His cohort, Connie Kay, would also be celebrating his birthday this week.
  6. Some of you make me sick!
  7. No, it's the same. This thread- who your current favorites are, (the favorites are old as well as new) and The What Are You Listening To Now thread- what you're listening to, (also is old as well as new.)
  8. If this thread is bad, I'm surprised you don't loathe the What Are You Listening To Right Now thread. I bet you don't care what anybody else is listening to.
  9. I dont get what the big deal is. I'm just trying to have some fun. If you don't like it, that's fine, but don't flame me and the topic.
  10. Okay, I'll make one.
  11. But that's why they made discussion boards.
  12. I listen to that one to southe my soul.
  13. Why not just say this whole forum is a waste of time.
  14. I doubt its always the same. I suspect an album like Jimmy Smith, Legacy sells more than a new release of McCoy Tyner, but I'm not sure. I guess it has to do with its public promotion.
  15. I can't imagine a place like J&R to run out of specific album and not re-stock it right away, much less have more than one copy.
  16. I was born to this music. Never liked any other kind of music in my life.
  17. But its the way he says it.
  18. Clark Terry, yeah! Birk too!
  19. Of course! That's one more of my first musical experiences. The Hello Dolly album. That's some nostalgia for me!
  20. Nah. I wont have, me looking at Kenny g's cd's at J&R on my conscience. BTW, I saved the bag from J&R. I love that place!
  21. J&R in the old Downtown NYC! Second floor! Hell yeah!
  22. Let's add trumpeters to the list. At the present time, I'm digging: 1. Lee Morgan 2. Donald Byrd 3. Kenny Dorham 4. Miles 5. Art Farmer
  23. I'm so bad a stuff like this. I have no idea.
