  1. I picked up a copy of this disc, it looks like a boot with no details of date or personnel , any one help me with these details,?? Nothing except that I've seen many cd's like that, which friggen annoys me.
  2. Yes Bonham's grooves were very hard, but I haven't had any trouble playing any of the songs on LZ 1 2 3 Houses Of The Holy, and Physical Grafitti.
  3. Are you a musician?
  4. exactly
  5. As is with most many things said here on this site, that people like to believe as, "facts."
  6. I was about to think I wasn't a musician for a moment there. But this sounds very encouraging.
  7. Uh, you live in New York. Ever hear of Lincoln Center or Carnegie Hall? I was asking if there's ever any good jazz there.
  8. the Ramsey Lewis, Eldee Young, Red Holt trio is what I'm talking about. I dont care that much for the the trio with the drummer for EW&F.
  9. My mom tells me my dad had me down stairs at the drums when I was 15 months old.
  10. hey, I like "Herb, where's Alpert?"
  11. I been doing that for 15 years. can I move on already!!
  12. SOB!!! Is that so.. Workout, one of my favorite Mobley sessions, probaly the favorite. Will play it tomorrow.
  13. So I hear...
  14. I would like to get the feeling of playing with other cats. That's the best way.
  15. Well I can't even play jazz anymore except along to records. Either the people I can actually play with dont want to or can not play jazz. Most of them have both problems. My friend took me to play with these guys once and it was very rewarding. Haven't done it again. I really would like to start a trio or something, but I have no way of looking or finding any worthy players.
  16. Okay, since at my age, the clubs ain't the best option to hear good jazz yet. I haven't really seen any meat and potatoe jazz live at all yet. Are there good jazz concerts in halls and in theaters? You know, other places than in clubs.
  17. Okay, this night we were down in Jersey. We had dinner at this italian place. On the outside where they had speakers, is where I heard Jimmy Smith, See See Rider from Home Cookin'. Which gave me the idea to start this thread. So that's sighting number one.
  18. And I thought organ trios were hot these days. Why dontcha come to New York.
  19. I assume that's what I'll do. If I can't make it just playing jazz.
  20. Even if you just do it on the side. I mean you can get a job that supports you well enough and still do what you love to do and not worry about how much you get screwed, or how little you get paid.
  21. Makes it so not encouraging for a kid who wants to do this for a living when he gets older.
  22. Yeah, but I think they should be ashamed of themselves for how they released Ramsey's trio stuff on cd. Unless there's some really good reason..
  23. Basically, none of the Ramsey Lewis Trio albums have been released on CD, except for of course, The In Crowd, and Down To Earth. The albums were Gentlemen of Jazz Gentlemen of Swing An Hour With The Ramsey Lewis Trio Bach To The Blues Pot Luck Hang On Ramsey Swinging With The Ramsey Lewis Trio In Chicago At Bohemian Caverns Never On Sunday More Music From Soil An album with some trumpet player, forgot the name The Sound Of Christmas More Sounds Of Christmas In Crowd Down To Earth Stretchin' Out (none of those, except for In Crowd, Down To Earth and Sound Of X-Mas were released on cd yet, and they're all pretty hard to find.)
