  1. How about, Man, I love jazz so much. I bought "The Jazz Singer" soundtrack with Neil Diamond. Man, that cat swings!
  2. Oh, I'm gonna get that one soon. The organ seems the most interesting instrument of all, standard instruments used in jazz settings. I think what would be cool if organists used the organ as like another instrument. Example-bass. Yeah, you got the bass lines bassists use, but I was thinking this the other day. That organists could have two solos. One doing an organ solo, (on the keys) and two, imitating a bass, and have a second solo, completely on the pedals, and lower the notes. Just a thought....
  3. There's usually a lull around this time. Soon the European members and the US insomniacs will be showing up.
  4. 0 people lurking. As it gets later and later, fewer and fewer people are being displayed on the bottom of the screen. -_-
  5. Took a look. Do most music shops usually stock them?
  6. Well that's good to hear.
  7. I ride in convertables for living!
  8. I'm sorry to say I'm at something like 0.12. Pretty sad!
  9. Can anyone tell me a good place to find some play alongs for guitar, piano, etc.? I'm looking everywhere.
  10. I remember I used the Vanguard for a school project in 8th grade. It was in a slide show of one of the places I would like to visit.
  11. I bought Wave awhile back. You know some of those tracks were done 100+ times before Jobim was satisfied on a take!
  12. Yes thought so. Heard in the Waiting Game liner notes that the reason they didn't release any others is because album sales were so low.
  13. Great topic! I was looking for one like this! I wish I saw it four days back when I got my Jimmy Smith Home Cookin' cd.
  14. Good good. Joe Pass, Eximious.
  15. Was this "the only" album released when it first came out? (by Tina) Or was that record True Blue?
  16. Man, I gotta hear you guys!
  17. I only heard two Jimmy Smith albums. Home Cookin' and Dynamic Duo, w/ Wes Montgomery. Both were rather enjoyable.
  18. I'll never forget what I heard one guy say. "Me and my brother always loved jazz. He became a musician, I became a poet. And whenever we get together, the age old question comes up. Who makes more money? A jazz musician or a poet?"
  19. Never got payed for a gig. Just play with some people on Long Island from time to time, and sit in at small places.
  20. Are kids aloud in that place? I remember seeing Elvin Jones was gonna play there two years ago, I guess I just lost interest.
  21. I can't wait to become a full-time musician.
  22. Well this thread is sad!
  23. Spyro Gyra Rites Of Summer
  24. Saying blacks play jazz better because black people created jazz is basically irrelevant in today's times. The people who "invented" it, (I dont like that term) were black yes, but long gone. They're not playing jazz anymore, so just because someone is black nowadays doesn't mean they have the advantage. We've covered this, but, yeah....
