  1. PITIFUL!!!!!! K, here's the scoop from beginning to finish: Greg, (father/husband) walks in the door. They live with their friends. He's all happy and says guess what I got? Everyone's all smiley, "what" "what" "what is it Greg?" I have..... "yes?" "tickets" "yes" "to..." "WHAT!!!'' " A jazz festival!" "oh," then he's like who wants to come with me, everyone's like "Oh, well I gotta do something and shit. He's like nobody wants to go with me? And Jimmy, the other husband says, "greg, I hate jazz!" Throughout the episode, he's trying to find someone to go with him. This is the part where, he asks at work if people want to go with him. He asks a black guy, and you know.... So greg's wife finds an add saying, like need a friend? and she reads the description. "Look Greg, a guy into jazz. Mingus, Coltrane, Davis, blah blah blha." Exactly what she says. the audience cracks up. I'm like cursing at the screen. Then they meet, blah blah blah the guy is this real nerd. I guess they wanted to make fun of jazz even more by making a little scrony nerdy white boy the "only" other jazz fan in LA. The show's usual stupid ass comedy blah blah, the show ends. Never watched it again.
  2. Reminds me of the Yes Dear episode wher Greg has tickets to a jazz festival, (the worst episode in history of tv by the way; most insulting to the greatest art form of all, I stoppped watching the show after that one aired by the way) Anyway, Greg wants someone to go with him, and naturally, to make fun of jazz, they make no one say yes. But anyway, he asks a black person if he likes jazz. His response, "Because I'm black?"
  3. Try writing a review on that one! Two reasons it's hard: 1. What can you say that hasn't been said already. 2. It's so great, and so legendary, just try organizing your thoughts to write a review on the most revolutionary jazz album of all time. I sure as hell couldn't for both reasons.
  4. is she the crime fighter?
  5. Everyone I have seen, unless they were recorded in Paris, or so.
  6. Weren't they all?
  7. Just one person, and by accident.

  11. Good idea. From now on, just take it that way.
  12. Still not Doris Roberts!!!
  13. That definately ain't Doris Roberts!
  14. Yes, all the big companies had great music, BN, Prestige, Argo/Cadet, Riverside, Contemporary, Fantasy, Verve etc. but the poll was which one do you like better. Just supposed to be fun.
  15. I was thinking of Doris Roberts.
  16. Latin then and now? Well back then it was closely tied with jazz, now pop artists have over-taken it, and calling it their own.
  17. They didn't put out that many "classics", but some cool obscure albums came from Argo. Ahmad Jamal's At The Pershing was probaly their most famous and successful release. NOt including the three boys from Chicago, The Ramsey Lewis Trio. I love Argo!
  18. Funny "alto story." I have the video, Classic jazz Drummers. There is a video clip of Kenny Clarke with JJ Johnson. With Johnson is Sonny stitt, and some trumpeter that I am not aware of. Looks like everyone in the band didn't pre=plan the arrangements at all, and when someone wanted to take a solo, they just said, "My turn." About 2 seconds into Sonny Stitt's solo, this trumpet player goes up to Sonny, am I'm guessing says, "Can I solo." (The music is too loud to hear,) But then I think Stitt says, no I'm playing, with a sort of nasty look on his face. After his, probaly 32 bar solo, the trumpeter takes the solo to trade off with Kenny, Sonny gives him a dirty look.
  19. Damn, anybody who can watch a porno flick all the way through is seriously messed up! There's a lot of ways to interpert that. I choose to do none.
  20. Just a question about Dialogue. Did hutcherson use a marimba on that session. Some guy said yeah, but listening to samples, all I hear is vibes.
  21. He looked that old in the 60's.
  22. *done*
  23. Saw the first thread in the Organissimo forum.
  24. I don't know anything about the band. Is there just an organist and guitarist?
  25. That jazz kat last season on American Idol!!! Even though he was a horrible singer, (sounded good cuz it was like sinatra, but he practically had no singing technique) he was my favorite. Even though when they made him sing all that garabge, it sounded bad, then they did the "Swing And Dance" music episode the week after he got booted. I bet he was kicking himself.
