  1. Im sorry for keep bringing this up. But everyone dislikes the Three Sounds? Wow, I'm sorry, this is just a complete shock. Anyone here actually like them? I always thought they were great. Well, for a piano trio.
  2. Paul Humphrey, drummer?
  3. I know, she sung those jazz tunes great!

  12. Hot Dog - Lou Donaldson, July 17, 2004 Reviewer: James Morefield (Philadelphia, PA USA) - See all my reviews I am truly surprised this isn't considered one of the finest Lou Donaldson organ funk recordings let alone one of the great examples of its overall genre. I find the playing on Hot Dog to be rife with extremely catchy rythms and tight, groovy solos. The last two songs, the title track and the cover of "It's Your Thing", are flat out wonderful. Lou's horn is great but, to me, is overshadowed by the fine combination of Reuben Wilson on organ and Melvin Sparks on guitar. Similar to the symmetry they display on Rueben's own "Blue Mode" they really cook up something special here, and I have found this to be my personal favorite amidst a growing collection of 60's and 70's jazz/funk/soul. I didn't necessarily consider this to be an 'underrated' work until searching through the reviews on these pages and seeing little mention of it on favorite's lists. Was this review helpful to you? 13. Never heard. Reasons.....
  14. What would you say is your least favorite albums issued on Blue Note, circa 1955-1968? I'm curious to see what we can come up with....
  15. "Elvin is mother earth coming alive with modern syncopation!" Louie Bellson.
  16. This is a hard question. Most everything I want is already on CD, it's just a matter of obtaining it. Maybe Brasil 66, Fool On The HIll, although it was a rather dissapointing album.
  17. It's going on tv in an hour, I'll check the credits.
  18. I know, you wonder how the hell do they think they are actually the best singers in the world??!!!
  19. Exactly. That's the only reason I tune in to it the first couple of weeks. ONce they narrow it down to the good singers, I stop watching.
  20. Yes, but who preforms it?
  21. i remember seeing the credits and saying hey, the theme's by a real jazz guy. For some reason I dont remember it as Donaldson. I dont know.... I think its on right now, I'll go check.
  22. Don't get me wrong, not watching for the music. But its entertaining.
