  1. Great site! I could very easily waste more time there than I do here!
  2. Up with reduced prices!
  3. MASSIVE PRICE REDUCTIONS! EVERYTHING MUST GO! All that's missing from this post is a big inflatable gorilla! All prices include shipping to US/Canada. International postage varies. $7 Ramones - ALL THE STUFF AND MORE, VOLUME 1 (Previous owner/idiot wrote "21" on the disc and the tray with a marker.) $7 Ramones - ALL THE STUFF AND MORE, VOLUME 2 (Previous owner/idiot wrote "22" on the disc and the tray with a marker.) I suspect they were owned by the same person. I'll sell both discs for $12. $7 Cal Tjader's LATIN CONCERT (OJC) $5 KISS - MUSIC FROM THE ELDER PM or e-mail acrearick@hotmail.com.
  4. FWIW, J&R has OJC's on sale for $8.99 right now.
  5. Hmmm... granted, my statement was based on the Mitchell & Griffin titles I saw; a lot of the Griffins are OJC Ltd. Editions, so I just naturally assumed that what was true for that was true for all. I could very likely be mistaken. Which titles did you get aren't listed?
  6. ... but still now chance to sort out all K2 or SCAD issues with the search function. It appears that they have SCADs of SACD's. FWIW, they list a whole bunch of OJCs, maybe even all of them. All of the Blue Mitchell titles, f'rinstance, are listed on the site, as are the Johnny Griffin OJC's and Limited Edition OJC's.
  7. They're not worth more than a dollar each. In fact, I'll give you five bucks for both of them, since you won't be able to get anything for them on the open market anymore. Seriously, I'd be interested in the Fuller set.
  8. Should not have read this so soon after lunch....
  9. I didn't see it, but I read about it in this morning's paper. How ironic he got that hit off a former Ranger! Still, that's very VERY cool! I've gotta watch it at mlb.com, I'm sure they have the clip! AFAIC, he's worth every penny he asks for.
  10. Cal Tjader's LATIN CONCERT. Fantasy blue label, which means it was pressed sometime in the 60's? I know it's not an original because it's not that wonderful red vinyl (plus it has a very decidedly 60's picture of Cal on the back instead of the original liner notes). Still, I love watching that blue Fantasy label spin around, and this sounds even better than the OJCCD of this title! Al McKibbon's bass (the REAL Big Al!) sounds like it's right in front of me!
  11. Don't forget that Mike Maltese wrote (and was also credited for) the lyrics to "Return My Love" from "What's Opera Doc." Absolutely true!
  12. I think "electric bass" denotes the Fender bass guitar, an upright with a pickup is not considered "electric" in normal jazz usage, the pickup used for amplification purposes only, although it certainly alters the sound, especially when recorded via direct imput (from the pickup into the mixing board). To be exact, it would have to be called "electro-acoustic". Okay, that makes much more sense. Sorry ShowsOn, I didn't know what I was talking about. Again.
  13. I... don't think so... Are you sure? You can probably find some Atlantic "pop" sessions where Carter played electric, but I can't name any. The Gene McDaniels thing Harold mentioned would be one. Are y'all talking about an electric bass guitar? Or an upright electric bass? Or an upright acoustic with an electric pickup? I'm just wondering because that sure sounds like an electric bass on all those CTI albums. Can someone clarify? Thanks!
  14. Link *I can personally attest to this. Last summer, we saw "Bugs Bunny on Broadway," which features a live orchestra playing the actual scores of the cartoons being shown on a big screen. It was like seeing "What's Opera Doc" for the first time. That night, I wasn't 36 years old, I was 6 years old. The lump in my throat at the end of the 'toon was the size of an apple.
  15. John Fogerty's CENTERFIELD Earlier today, I was spinning my needle-drop of BENSON BURNER, which is as greeeeeazy as it gets!
  16. Meaning you just got your hands on it, and are surprised it's taken this long to discover it? Or, does this mean you don't have it, and wish you did? meaning I just discovered it, don't own it, and will probably cost me a fortune to buy it Check your PM box.
  17. I guess "wonder" is in the eye of the wonderer. Or the man with the fattest wallet....
  18. Agree wholehearted-lee!
  19. Are you talking about Reggio's, Al? Nope!
  20. Meaning you just got your hands on it, and are surprised it's taken this long to discover it? Or, does this mean you don't have it, and wish you did?
  21. What, the Yankees don't have enough coverage as it is?
  22. Damn near any CTI album has Ron on electric bass. I suggest Freddie Hubbard's STRAIGHT LIFE and RED CLAY for great examples of that!
  23. I had a cousin who used to work there; he called the place "Mal Nutritti's" My favorite pizza in Chicagoland is Riggio's in Niles, off of Milwaukee Avenue; can't remember the cross-street. Coming from Arlington, TX where everything is homogenized, seeing a pizza with entire olives, bacon STRIPS (not crumbles), and all sorts of other chunks of assorted pizza goodies, I knew I'd found heaven! I haven't had a Conan's Pizza in faaaaaaaaaaar too long! Thankfully, Double Dave's is starting to flourish around here; I actually like their pizza, and their pepperoni rolls are to-die-for! Of course, they may kill you, but that's the risk you take! Finally, Mama's Pizza is the one claim to fame that Arlington can legitimately have. They pour the cheese on like there's no tomorrow.... and there may not be if you're not careful!
