  2. Wow, I find that surprising. To me, the Byrd's are some of the most enjoyable Blue Note sessions. I think I could live without most of the Hubbard, Shorter, Henderson dates (except for Goin' Up, Etc & Our Thing) What, did you sell me your extra copy or something? Totally agree about the Byrds, especially when paired with either Pepper Adams or Jackie McLean (oh yes, OFF TO THE RACES!!!).
  3. Right also. Except for "Point of departure". No kidding? I think that one is his most overrated. Not even close to Judgement or Dance with Death.
  4. Went to AMG (sorry clem) to read the bio of McCoy, saw the words "soul jazz vibraphonist" at the beginning of the bio, and completely agree that a collection of his records would be wonderful!
  5. I voted for the Rich cuz it's on my Christmas list as well!
  6. Bob Brookmeyer and Friends (Columbia mono, which I guess is the only way it was ever released on vinyl)\ Found it for $8 tonight at a Half-Price Books. MAN I love that place!
  7. THRU 11/5 This coupon has been automatically renewing for some time now. Hopefully it will keep doing so ........ Now thru 12/18!!!
  8. Ooooooh! Now THAT looks cool!
  9. The Stitt Prestige Bebop box that's out. Hardly a household name in the music market.
  10. Listening to BIRD & DIZ, courtesy of the public library. Slowly getting bit!
  11. Oooooooooooh YEAH!!!!! Clifford Jordan SMOKES on this one! Some of the funkiest grooves this side of a Silver record!
  12. I've been on a serious Prestige 50's jones lately, having gotten the Miles Quintet box, and eagerly awaiting getting the Trane, Stitt, and future Trane & Miles boxes. Having that Stitt in there gives me hope that others like it may be in the works. If so, here's what I'm hoping for: Complete Kenny Burrell Jams (All Day Long, All Night Long, etc) Complete Jackie McLean Red Garland Small Groups (All Morning Long, etc) What say y'all?
  13. Is the Guaraldi colored vinyl?
  14. Ew! She even looks trashy from the back!
  15. No kidding!
  16. Malik has that scowl reminiscent of Mingus on the cover of MONEY JUNGLE. "Don't mess with me, motherf****r!"
  17. It's also very likely that Ms. Lohan's handlers' writing skills are on the same level. My 10-year-old writes better than this.
  18. AFAIC, this has THE definitive version of "A Night in Tunisia!"
  19. Hopefully to someplace in the DFW area! (If there's anyplace left....)
  20. Is that the CD or the LP? I'd like to find an LP copy; I can't help but wonder if some of the vocals on the current CD version are overdubbed.

  22. Me too! Wouldn't it be great if Concord gave the Monk/Griffin gigs the same treatment they gave the Red Garland Prelude set? Griffin was killin' when he was with Monk!
  23. Alrighty then; I think that'll do the trick!
