  1. NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
  2. Last night's loss to the Jazz just about proves that. They've come out lately with what seems to be no sense of purpose. I hope they reverse that trend soon; it'd be a waste of coaching staff and players if they don't.
  3. But back to topic: "This word 'cat' can be found in this section of the dictionary." "I believe you will find that in the 'R' section." "No, not in the R's" "Not in the R's? That's not what your mother said last night!!! BWAAA HA HHAA HAHAHAHA!!!" "I walked right into that one."
  4. I saw that line (the rapist)written on a sign next to an office many years ago on Benny Hill!!!!(and bet it was old during vaudeville) BINGO!!!! Beri, I knew I had seen that before somewhere! Man, I grew up on Benny Hill. They had a marathon of his shows on BBCA a couple of months back. I hadn't seen most of them since I was a kid. I think I laughed even harder this time around. I saw the Complete Benny Hill DVD at Costco the other day. I'm tellin' ya, Scott: I get little enough done as it is without being in the Politics forum. If I was in there, I'd get ABSOLUTELY nothing done! Heck, I'm still trying to find time to answer your "free jazz" question from the "Where's Christiern" thread!
  5. Oh, FWIW, I think Winona Ryder as Bjork is so dang CUTE!
  6. Well yeah, but that's the point, right? Exactly what I was going to say! "It's a frickin' HAMMER!!!"
  7. No, no, NO!!!
  8. "I'll take Anal Bum Covers for $400." Actually, my favorite is just listening to Darrell Hammonds (as "Connery") laughing himself silly every time he insults "Trebek." How Will Ferrell kept a straight face through all of that, I'll never know.
  9. When Organissimo recordings make it to the frontpage of the NYT Or the Op-Ed page.
  10. Chris posted these NYT op-eds as a public service to members who did not have full access to those editorials! Great, where can I upload my Organissimo recordings as a public service for the people who dont have full acces to them? Excellent EXCELLENT point!
  11. In fact, all five of the most recent RVGs are at BMG.
  12. It's gonna be interesting to hear folks opinions of Romo now that he's finally had a lousy game. If they don't drop Owens now after tonight's pitiful performance, I guess they never will. Too bad. He seems to be the only thing standing between the Boys and a genuine run for the Super Bowl.
  13. A super-busy weekend prevented me from wishing you a happy birthday in time, but I wanted to echo BeBop's words here. They come from this heart, too, my friend!
  14. Damn! Another guilty pleasure, right up there with that Waitresses song and that McCartney song. I oughta just make a compilation of Christmas guilty pleasures and call it "Xmas Music from Hell!" Jazz Kat, I love Christmas; that's part of why I started this thread: to vent about songs that absolutely RUIN my (and anyone else's) Christmas mood!
  15. Pity he rarely indulged it over the years. Honestly, if it wasn't for the two red flags that I mentioned in the first post, I'da just guessed he was still doing nothing but posting Dowd/Krugman/Friedman articles in the politics forum.
  16. Big Al, this is sound advice. Though the wealth of false starts, breakdowns, and alternate takes can sometimes be tedious, this is an excellent document of the master. I got this one when I still lived in Florida many years ago, and I still consider it one of the "must have" boxes in my collection. Where do you stand on folks like Eric Dolphy and Ornette? I believe Red is talking about the 3-CD set of just the master takes, not the 8-CD "complete" sessions. Either way, it is sound advice indeed. My feelings on Ornette are about the same as Bird's: I appreciate and respect him for what he accomplished, but that doesn't make me wanna listen to him all that much. Dolphy, OTOH, is too far out there for me to comprehend, much less grasp. I've tried over the years, and have come to the conclusion that there is music out there that I actually ENJOY listening to, so why keep torturing myself?
  17. So you're also familiar with the goings on at JC? What is your handle there? "Monte Smith."
  18. Great choice, but it's all good!
  19. Eww!!! I haven't heard it, but still.... EWW!!!
  20. Pssttt, comrade... Charlie Parker's Complete Dial and Savoy Masters. At BMG... make haste, my boy!!! I had it on my Christmas wishlist (oops, sorry Comrade: Xmas wishlist, please don't tell the Kremlin), but then remembered it was blatant materialistic commercialism, and fed the list to my pet goat. Does this mean you've returned to the Politics forum? If so, I may have to reconsider my voluntary banishment, as I miss the days of yore when we would hunker down in the barracks, listening to NPR on the transistor radio and argue over who was right and who was left.
  21. You could play that whole album and it would still be a fantastic show. I know I'll be listening!
  22. Lord have mercy YES!!! If I have to hear Amy Grant sing that song ONE MORE TIME..... Amy Grant did that one? Oh lord help us all... I do like Brenda Lee's version though. Just not 150 times a day. Same label, same era, roughly - Bobby Helms "Jingle Bell Rock". Now that's one that gives me the willies... Well, I'll count Brenda Lee's version as one I can go the rest of my life without hearing.
  23. Heh heh heh.... I completely understand where you're coming from.... but don't let that rocket ship to the vortex leave WITHOUT ME!!!!
  24. Anytime, my friend! Anytime! Lord knows there's a boatload of great music that I simply don't get. Any guidance (accompanied by the usual beers, provided by me of course) is always appreciated! Anyway, I hope I didn't come across too judgemental of Neville by that one song alone; I certainly cannot judge him as I've never heard any of his music (oh Lord here it comes...... )
  25. Lord have mercy YES!!! If I have to hear Amy Grant sing that song ONE MORE TIME..... But ya gotta love the organissimo version, though! I know I do! (where'z that brown-nosed smilie?)
