  1. 15% off the Turrentine, Donaldson, and Rich..... I don't know if I can restrain myself this time! Seriously!
  2. Actually, the God's honest truth is that I also got that call but didn't get down there until three days afterwards. I figured there would only be a few titles left. I asked Kevin (the guy who works there) about that and he said just about everyone he'd called had already picked over what they wanted, so I'm guessing there was a lot more than what I walked out of there with (which, as you can tell, was everything else). I just figured I would buy them all and sell them here. Give everyone on the board a chance to give these discs a good home.
  3. Holy freakin' shit!!! It's not enough that Hamilton belts 28 homers in the first round, but how the hell did his 71-yr-old pitcher keep up the strength to keep throwin' 'em in there??? Un-freakin-real!!!
  4. This session has a very dark feel to it. Another in a fine line of "Prestige All-Star" jams, and yet it has a personality all its own. This is no doubt due to the presence of Pepper Adams and Cecil Payne, and Trane just blends right in with them. A lotta low end, but it contributes to the mood.
  5. In my case, I just stumbled onto a treasure trove at a local shop, bought 'em all thinking that a lot of people had holes to fill. I kept out the titles I wanted! In fact, I even sent Dan a PM telling him to go ahead and offer his JRVG's & TOCJ's. It means more to me to help him out than sell what I have.
  6. No Jim, they said birth "date," not birth "weight."
  7. The #1 song on the day my son was born was "One Sweet Day" by Mariah Carey/Boyz II Men. Yes it was!
  8. Dude, I can't believe I'm younger than you. I thought you were way younger than me!
  9. Not really, unfortunately. Maybe it's that way on the original tape.
  10. SOLD! Literally! Payment already received! Got it! Wow! That was fast!
  11. Simon & Garfunkel's "Bridge Over Troubled Water"
  12. Thanks! Now that everyone's sobered up, buy some CDs to celebrate, won't you?
  13. Payment received! Will mail today or tomorrow. Thanks! Yer gonna love this one, the sound on this one is outta this world!
  14. Up again for the Saturday night impulse-buy crowd. Except these aren't impulses, they're Blue Notes!
  15. and that will do it folks. Everything is on hold or paid for and none of the sets that people made back up bids on are still unpaid. Please look for my stupendous CD sale which will commence this weekend. Start commencing already!!!
  16. Not without the tonic of a severe , protracted economic downturn . Or perhaps instilling in present and future generations the notion of buying something with your own money instead of borrowed money. Despite the economic downturn, the constant inflow of credit card offers has not slowed down one wit.
  17. Just depends on who you're rooting for: the Rangers shut down a White Sox team whose starting pitcher hadn't given up more than four earned runs in a long time, whereas our starter was bouncing back from a horrible start to go seven innings of brilliant baseball with change-ups that we're foolin' 'em at every swing. Final score: Rangers 7, Sox 2. Rangers are four games above .500, Kinsler's hitting streak is alive at 23 games, there are four guys in the lineup with averages greater than .300. Summer isn't usually this much fun this time of the year. Maybe.... just maybe.....
  18. Just another case of reaping what you sow, chickens coming home to roost, and a host of other cliches..... It's sad, but we're getting what we, as a country, deserve: payback hell for living on borrowed money. What? We had to pay that money back? Nobody told us about that! And then people wonder why we're in a horrible economy right now. What's funny is how the conservative talk shows are trying to pin this whole thing on Chuck Schumer. Now, I can't stand the guy to begin with, but a bank doesn't just fall apart because of what someone said earlier in the week. This has been a LOOOOOONG time coming.
  19. Yeah, Dan, same best wishes from me as well. I'd buy some, but I got a few of my own that I'm trying to sell.
  20. Up for the Friday night party crowd and the international folks for whom it is already Saturday morning!
  21. New Soil TOCJ for Cape Verdean Blues JRVG? Sounds good to me. Doesn't matter to me if the OBI is included, though.
  22. I edited my original post to clear up confusion about what I meant by "facsimiles." I didn't know what else to call those inserts that come with the TOCJ's; you know, the booklet is in Japanese, but there is also an insert of the back-cover of the original LP on one side, and a list of other TOCJ's on the other. No photocopies are being inserted anywhere. Sorry for the confusion!
