Guy, feel free to call me "Jim". Anyway, just to elaborate a bit, since you can understand their annoyance, you aren't completely disagreeing with me (I don't think). I'm just saying they have a right to complain publicly about Denver playing their stars while up by such a big margin with the game effectively being over. I think they were legitimately upset, and were not out of line in delivering the hard foul. I'm not saying that it gave them the right to do anything nasty, but I really don't think that the hard foul was very excessive. A hard foul is a hard foul, and it's part of the game. It comes with consequences, but it's a common thing (the circumstances vary of course, and sometimes there's less emotion involved, such as Monta Ellis getting clotheslined the other night in the middle of the game). Like I said, in this case the hard foul wasn't endangering the offensive player- he was still on the ground, and there was no punch or vicious elbow to the head. Collins fouled him hard, and immediately raised his arms up and away. That doesn't mean that the Knicks don't deserve any punishment as a result of what developed, but all I saw the Knicks doing was either harmless shoving or defending themselves (Nate Robinson got tackled, Collins got sucker punched). To me, Denver was generally more at fault for the whole thing.

I don't have a single favorite, but these are high on my list... (I like it way better without the "STEREO STEREO STEREO" across the top ) Not the greatest scan... anyway my original Mercury LP looks better than this Verve issue I have a hard time choosing between graphic art and photography. I also tend to pick the ones that I own and have a sentimental attachment to (the only one here I don't have on vinyl is the Art Farmer).

Thanks Marcello. That bottom one is a favorite of mine (I think it's the one that isn't working anymore in my opening post). It was taken at the Jazz Workshop in Boston in 1965 (nice big print in Tanner's "Images Of Jazz" on pg. 118).

Hmm... I just viewed the tape at ESPN.com. First off, I wouldn't say this was worse than the Pacers/Pistons. Not at all. There was a lot more pushing, grabbing and holding as opposed to punching in this one, and of course it didn't spread into the seats and get spectators involved (at least not to any serious degree that I was able to see). I think the Knicks have a legit gripe in terms of Denver playing their stars while up 19 (or 20 or whatever) with only a minute left. That would piss anybody off. The Collins foul looked flagrant for sure, but if you look close he actually took the hard foul (relatively tame at that, since it didn't endanger the Nugget player) and then pulled his arms up and away. The Nuggets just totally overreacted. Flagrant fouls happen, and you have to just accept it, especially when you're showing a team up like that at their place. Carmelo was just pathetic. After things had calmed down somewhat, he throws the sucker punch at Collins, and then he runs away (???). At any rate, I hope the league responds quickly and sends a strong message. They have to. Edited for accuracy (I viewed the sucker punch again)

Yep, those are nice (see post #4 above ). Thanks, though. I guess I'm looking for things that are either new to the web, or rarely seen scans from LP's or whatever...

Hey, HEY. Nobody goes overboard with the parentheses like me- nobody (Rooster is more about enlarged text, bold, red and blue, etc)... (oh, and btw, I agree with you on "swing" and "Swing")... (like they say, if you have to ask...). ( )

Up for air... Looks like some of my linked images have gone dead (I've edited them). Can anybody add anything to this? I'm especially interested in shots from the 50's and 60's. I was just listening to KB on Illinois Jacquet's "Desert Winds" on Argo, and wondering again about any photos (or video!?) of KB that may have survived from that era (circa '64). I think there was a shot of KB inside the foldout cover of Terry Gibbs "Take It From Me" (Impulse) LP... haven't seen that in years.

Hmm... W.M. vs C.B. ...well, they're both jazz trumpet players- one a legendary and influential giant that played with both incredible technique and beautiful soul, a humble and softspoken man... and the other a... oh, okay, makes sense.

I'd be curious to hear the answer to that also... Try the last 30 seconds of track 2. I have the 1992 OJC CD remastered by Gary Hobish. The final 30 seconds of "Come Rain Or Come Shine" sounds fine to my ears, as does the rest of this CD, as far as I can tell. You (ornette) said the problem exists on "several tracks", and that it is "carried on to the CD"... but you never said exactly which version you have. I'll listen again, but I must say I'm a bit confused.

Wynton Marsalis, Where do we stand on him? Maybe if we all stand on his left foot, he'll shut up for awhile? But seriously, I'm with Guy on this.

I like team basketball. Baron can score when he needs to, AND pass the ball. Biedrins is rapidly developing into an excellent center, which is something we haven't had for a long time. I like our chemistry now. A major trade would screw that up, and we'd be set back about 3 or 4 years. If Murph has to go because he doesn't fit into Nellie's system, then I can live with that. Personally, I'd rather keep Dunleavy, but I could live with his exit as well. If anybody wants Foyle, okay. But trading away our nucleus in order to get Iverson would be a mistake, imo.

In the long run you guys are better off. The guy is definitely overrated -- he couldn't get his team into the playoffs even in the eastern conference. Better to start from scratch, and maybe Philly will either get a good replacement or get rid of some bloated contract. There's some talk of the Warriors trading for him -- I hope not! Guy I just read this: "Around the NBA ... Sixers GM Billy King told another Eastern Conference executive last night that he has "two deals on the table, ready to go." One of the deals King was strongly considering is with Golden State, for point guard Baron Davis, center Andris Biedrins and a third unidentified player. In addition to Iverson, the Warriors would get backup center Steven Hunter. While a source close to one of the players involved called the deal "done," the Sixers remain quiet about where they will be sending Iverson. -- New York Daily News" NO, No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no... please, God, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no...

Hey, you can't be serious! Has he really been off your radar all the time? There's LOTs of life in Jazz outside all those hard-bop-funk-jazz-rock-bluenote-hornblowers! :D ... ... ... ...
