  3. In his book, Memoirs of an Amnesiac, [Satie] joked about his strict timetable: “I rise at 7.18; am inspired from 10.23 to 11.47. I lunch at 12.11 and leave the table at 12.14. A healthy ride on horseback round my domain follows from 1.19pm to 2.53pm.” https://www.theguardian.com/music/2025/jun/26/unheard-works-by-erik-satie-to-premiere-100-years-after-his-death

  5. "lowball" is to put it mildly or politely - do not be surprised if what Half Price Books offers you is less than what you paid to take the 78s to the store.
  6. ...he’d wandered into the back room at Village Music Record Store in Mill Valley, where he was quickly overcome by a feverish mania reminiscent of Humphrey Bogart striking a vein of gold in The Treasure of the Sierra Madre. 10. In the last few years, I have slowly given away some CDs. To a coworker who (inexplicably) brings me 2 breakfast tacos every week, I gave 2 CDs of Carl Palmer (she had mentioned that she likes prog rock); to a coworker from Aruba, I gave her a compilation CD of Louis Armstrong last Christmas (and she gave me a big smile), etc., etc. I am keeping my Mosaics until the end.
