  1. Completed sessions of several 1950's Savoy arstist would be nice. Here's a pretty much complete listing: https://jazzdiscography.com/Artists/thelonious-monk/thelonious-monk-discography.php#sess-year_1971
  2. The source for this version is by the James Moody Quintet, July 13, 1951 (Vogue LD036 , Roost 544) - at least that is what comments on th Prestige reissues say. But I just listened to the track on YouTube (which wrongly dates it in 1949) and understand your doubts. But there is no other Moody recording of that tune .... The liner notes of recent CD reissues are very helpful in this respect, as they state the source tracks for most of the King P?leasure recordings, especially the Blue Note CD which includes the UA LP plus one unreleased track: https://www.discogs.com/release/4578051-King-Pleasure-Moodys-Mood-For-Love I am working on a King Pleasure discography, to be published online in a few months, stating all the source tracks.
  3. It's the version by Teddy Wilson & his Orchestra with Billie Holiday, May 11, 1937 (Columbia CL2487).
  4. Seasonal music: David Erler is an excellent singer doing a lot of research in East German archives, e.g. he is resonsible for the new edition of Johann Kuhnau's sacred music, Bach' predecessor in Leipzig, and took part in the recordings.
  5. That's a real treasure trove. I bought all the LPs and CDs when they were new, otherwise I would have jumped at the box. He was very positive about it in a recent interview, except for the inclusion of the Haydn Concertini with Koopman, which originally were on Phlilips and had noting to do with Musica Antiqua Köln. This spring his book on the Brandenburg Concertos was published which he wrote during the pandemic. He is the most knowledgeable musician of his generation.
  6. The 20 minute CD with music by Destouches and Cardonne accompanying this book, played by Olivier Baumont: Next is this:
  7. I will e-mail him about this, in case he did'nt notice.
  8. Would you care to tell us his name? And please keep us updated on your recording!
  9. Just had the last drop from the weekemd bottle: Domaine de Grange Neuve Côtes de Bergerac Moëlleux 2021
  10. These statistical methods allow correlating anything with anything - if you believe those figures without critical thinking.
  11. Belated birthday wishes from me, too! I like to call that Bass playing concept a "rubber band sound". Better for Cubop as well.
  12. Second disc now. This is music on the same level as Balbastre or others of his generation. We just know very little about his life and no other music survived.
  13. Bob Van Asperen is the first choice for Louis Couperin or Johann Jakob Froberger! Yesterday I received and played these two excellent new releases:
  14. Fully agreed! I spin these Moody albums frequently. And it sounds like a band although he rarely lets the other horns take a solo.
  15. One of my external hard drives suddenly was no more accessible - I had left it connected after shutdown, and when restarting some windows update caused a fauilure when trying to read the external hard disc. I was lucky to have a friend who had a colleague in his IT business that had the proper tools to copy the contents of the EHD, re-format the drive and copy the data back on, so all was still there. He recommended to disconnect all external drives after shutdown for this reason. I never had a problem accessing data even when I had not used them for months. I use a powered multi USB hub - most computers do not have enough power to drive more than one USB device at at time.
  16. I'm still for this, as well as for sets of the Clef/Verve seseions of Ben Webster and Illinois Jacquet.
