Because I finally wanted to hear the sides without Lady Day I gave in and bought a ten (!) CD box by Documents ten years ago. But this box includes some Musicraft material on the last two discs and no CD runs longer than 60 minutes, so 7 CDs is a good guess. There was a box on French CBS with all the solos that included many alternates in session order which made it a bit tiresome to listen to - I hope they intersect the solo sessions in between the band tracks and place the alternates the end of the discs. There even was a 2 CD reissue of the solo sides: https://www.discogs.com/Teddy-Wilson-The-Complete-Teddy-Wilson-Piano-Solos-/release/6099582 That's the Documents box, just for information, used copies are cheap, but I can imagine much better sound. Here's track list, which will give you an idea of what to expect. This box is by no means complete, and includes tracks with Holiday. The Musicraft tracks start at disc 9, track 13. https://www.discogs.com/Teddy-Wilson-Portrait/release/6266887

I envy you for that book - antiquarian copies go for high prices, only 1000 copies were printed. Can you please take a look at where and by what company it was printed? Thanks! -
Oh my - this is much better than I remembered. Seems like the Mosaic Hines box is one to get.

Good Tjader solos throughout, nice arrangements. When researching Tjader's discography I found out the album was initially recorded in Los Angeles on October 2, 1967, but the results were rejected. The whole album was re-recorded in New York on December 12, 1967.

Which Jazz box set are you grooving to right now?
mikeweil replied to Cliff Englewood's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
Finally getting around to the fourth LP - this band swung!!! Minnie the Moocher is Dead - that's one of the tracks - and their version of Morton Gould's Pavane, which probably inspired Coltrane for his Impressions. -
I listened to some samples a few days ago (sorry, can't find the link anymore) and thought it's a must buy!

Album covers showing vinyl records without cover
mikeweil replied to mikeweil's topic in Miscellaneous Music
Yes, but it's not quite on the same level, musically, as the previous MPS studio LPs with Jo Jones or Kenny Clare, and Jimmy Woode on bass. Perhaps they had a little too much champagne before they played - it's fun, but .... -
