Soundwise, excellent. Audiophiles raved about it back then. A 45 rpm LP, direct-to-disc. Tjader's quintet of the time expanded with horns and extra percussion. Used copies are not that expensive. It was on CD on the Laserligt label with two extra tracks that had only Gary Foster's flute - these are on the new CD reissue due in May, but I have no idea what source material they used.

Burt Goldblatt is credited in small print just above the Savoy label name.

Can you please edit the thread title? It's Tjader not Trader. Tjader never played with the Lionel Hampton band, btw, he just met him as a boy. That is a mistake in the promo text.

Can you please post a link to the source of your information? I have the original Crystal Clear release with four tracks, a direct cut 45 rpm LP. The two additional tracks were first issued on a Laserlight CD. I wonder what their source tapes are.

In BRIAN you can specify as many leaders as you want in a session, or noone, as in the case of all star sessions.

They were moving in different circles, partly overlapping. Must have to do with the common Florida upbringing of Jones and the Adderley brothers. I cannot compare Watkins as he died too young. Lord lists 355 sessions for Chambers, 110 for Watkins, 423 for Jones. What l wanted to say is that compiling a complete discography is too much work for me. Jones played fine on every date he was on.

Can you search for sideman appearances in your system?

You can find that in The Jazz Discography Online , but you have to subscribe to use it. There are 423 sessions listed, which is about 300 albums. Jones was in demand ..... too much for me at this time.

I was able to purchase a copy of this single release. Comparison with the LP versions reveals these are edited from them, and not alternates.
