Had a pretty good haul today.....$62 for the lot. The 3 Shank discs don't look like they were ever played.....same with the TOCJs. The Haig is a Venus pressing.

That Cerri European Jazz-Stars one seems to have slipped through the net and wasn't listed in the JPN re-issues thread. CD is due out in late May. After checking out a few clips at this site, I'm sold. http://www.ticro.com/search/F10001412/no_sub/detail/ http://www.hmv.co.jp/en/product/detail/3542052

Well thanks Robert....think I'll check it out. That $60 price tag's nothing compared to the forthcoming 'Ballads' mini-lp 'glass cd' set that'll soon be available for $2,000. When I first saw this listed on the 'Latest Japanese Re-Issues' thread I thought the 200,000 yen was a typo......and then a joke. Um, guess not. ....speaking of Hank Jones, anyone have any additional background info about this upcoming release? I take it that this is a duet much like their earlier 'Our Delights' lp? FNCJ 5534 (2CD) Flanagan, Tommy(p) & Hank Jones(p)/Live In Marciac 1993

I've never had Ballads on vinyl either and just noticed the 45-RPM one (ORG) over at Acoustic Sounds. That looks mighty tempting....as does the 'Stan Meets Chet' one (a pre-order). I totally missed the discussion about these 45-rpm titles. Is there a thread about 'em hiding somewhere else on this board??

Zoot Sims '5858' LP. Sound quality?
Son-of-a-Weizen replied to Son-of-a-Weizen's topic in The Vinyl Frontier
Were you a pilot? -
Saw the LP over at the Eastwind site and wondered about the 'other noise'? The Rolls engines on those BOAC 707s flying around nearby LA International? "Due to the nature of private recording, the sound quality is far from optimal, and there are significant tape hiss and other noise due to the conditions of the analog tapes. Some of the tunes are incomplete with fade-ins and fade-outs but all solos by Sims are recorded in their entirety."

If you listen to SACDs, the 'S Wonderful hybrid is outstanding, as are the 2007 Birdland discs. FYI, the 'S Wonderful (SACD) sleeve art is different than the one in that 441recs link you posted.

Don't flatter yourself. These 2 liter bottles of weizen now in my possession are beautiful --- you're just kinda cute.

Same here. I honestly don't understand why it is that grown men feel compelled to ask an Administrator to block them from that forum. When you've had yer fill, ya bolt for awhile....simple as that. I've hardly stepped foot inside the place for a couple of months now because it was becoming tiresome. That's the beauty of online forums....you talk to who you want, when you want. Btw, what got Chris all yanked off in the first place anyway? Sheesh....Chris leaving??!! That's almost as earth shattering an event as that magical day in 2001 when he and Dan were actually in agreement on something. (warning: archived political thread from BNBB........don't peek if you're blocked from the forum!!!) http://web.archive.org/web/20011214121516/...=8&t=002273

Has Mosaic ever put out something you suggested?
Son-of-a-Weizen replied to Popkin's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
I've suggested a Select set composed of Vols 1 & 2 of the Larry Bunker Quartet (Interplay) plus the remaining '63 LP (Vault) and doubt it'll ever happen....but who knows??? The allMusic site says that both the Interplay dates were released on cd in Japan at one point but I have yet to actually see one of these supposed Jpn cds and wonder if it's just a typo....that they meant to say 'Japanese vinyl'? Has anyone here ever seen a cd version? http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&a...11:jvfuxq95ldde -
Heard from him earlier in the week.......and the disc arrived safely.

What for? People will just fling rocks at you or pee in your mug of beer while your head is turned for constantly provoking them. You can get that here & now --- why travel back to 1690 or 1820 to get the same treatment?

Oh my......so Allen even went so far as to log on and post as 'SusanDani' so that he could piss on Harvey? There's spiteful determination for ya. Paul Harvey was a homophobic McCarthyist, who spewed fear-based patriotic nonsense to sell beds and phony herbal meds--all while his presidential "friends" such as golf-buddy Ronnie & the 2 Georges where killing our soldiers & innocents, while robbing this nation blind. Paul Harvey dead? I say good day and good riddance.
