  1. I haven't dug that one out for a very long time Masahiko Togashi - Story Of The Wind Behind Left
  2. I didn't think I would own much that features in this thread but I do have that Weinstein and rate it very highly.
  3. Ozzy Osbourne The Paranoid Warpig Francis Bacon
  4. Early Black Sabbath albums, some great music and Ozzy is essential to them.
  5. Ezra Pound Ezra Collective Joe Armon Jones
  6. A couple contemporary examples Irreversible Entanglements - s/t Jaimie Branch - Fly Or Die And the one, Van Morrison - Astral Weeks. Anyone who doesn't consider it a Jazz album doesn't rate Richard Davis's central contribution. That's a hill I'll die on.
  7. I think that's one of the best UK series in the last few years. Beautifully written and acted.
  8. I don't have a fetish for vinyl just for music and I don't have a DVD player so this LP is the only way for me to enjoy the music. And enjoy it I do. I can't get over how agitated people get on this board because some of us make particular choices of formats on which to enjoy music. If you don't enjoy listening on LP that's fine by me but leave those of us that do to enjoy doing so.
  9. Mine's in the post, can't wait. I was at the gig.
  10. He's someone I know I need to investigate more. I know 'Slaves Mass' but need to know others. thanks for this mini primer HutchFan. i want a copy of the one you've just bought if only for the cover Just got me a copy. Sampled it on YouTube and had to follow your lead @HutchFan
  11. Venus Williams Pluto the dog Keith Moon
  12. Absolutely, she can sing them too. That's a total gem. I was lucky to see her play it live a few years ago. Music heaven.
  13. Thomas Crapper Bogshed (the band, who I haven't thought about for 30+ years, thankfully) Jacob Rees-Mogg
  14. Cool Ruler! Such a great songwriter - tender, angry, often in the same song. sadly missed.
  15. Shorty Rogers Long John Baldry Hairy McLary
  16. Yes, that's on my list too
  17. First listen and I think it's very good. I've a heap of Wooley albums but haven't bought anything for a few years so took a punt on this as a pre-order. Sounds quite composed to me, it's probably not, and errs on the 'not a lot' end of the 'does it swing?' spectrum Seriously, it's serious music played very well by some very good musicians. If you've an ear for Wooley then you'll enjoy it. It wears all the intellectualising in the notes and on FJB lightly I'd say
  18. Madonna Donna Summer June Christy
  19. Slipper Of The Yard Peter Bowler Nora Batty
  20. Friar Tuck Thelonious Monk Elvin Bishop
  21. Thanks. Giving it another spin and I agree with you on the most successful collaborations. Salif Keita could sing a shopping list and I'd enjoy it!
  22. How are you finding that? I sampled a few tracks and wasn't too convinced by some of the collaborations Edit to add: decided to listen to it and can see that I fell for the danger of random sampling. Still not sure about the Camille track at all
