  1. We'd pronounce it the same as you but wonder why you weren't saying "aluminium", the correct word for the metal concerned
  2. The joy of a large collection, rediscovering a title you'd forgotten about...

  7. I didn't know about RLJ's memoir. That's a must for me. Thanks for alerting me to it. And, beauty is in the eye if the beholder...
  8. The latter is available on download already. I have it, it's very good. Victo recordings are difficult to source in the UK. When I looked s couple of weeks ago there was no download on their Bandcamp page. Maybe now.
  9. Petula Clark Hugo Boss Sir John Falstaff
  10. Classic Say hello to Devon. Hope to be there in a few weeks when my folks' second jabs take effect

  13. I was very sceptical that the UK government would achieve what they have having had a parlous record on the entire Covid response. I don't think it's a coincidence that the vaccine programme wasn't tendered out to the private sector, like so much else in the response, but kept well within the NHS. So it's really the health sector's success rather than government.
  14. It sounded good earlier, will listen again over the next day or two edit to add: listening again now and I don't really detect muddiness. Sharrock isn't high in the ensemble mix at times and that mix is quite dense. Burrell's the biggest loser in the mix as I'm hearing it.

  17. That's great news. My parents (both in late 80s) get their second doses next week. Only then will I feel comfortable visiting them for the first time in 18 months.
  18. Pharoah Sanders - Tauhid [Impulse 1968, reissue]
  19. That looks very interesting. thanks for highlighting it, I had no idea of its existence. Moran prices his downloads quite high which means with sales tax I'm paying £17 for one. CDs never cost that much and I bought all of those he released. The price puts me off, although the presence of Graves may just be the thing to make the added investment worthwhile this time. That's a lovely 'cover' photo too
  20. My favourites switch nearly every time I listen to any of his Impulses - such a strong run. I have a big soft spot for 'Live At The East' and that along with 'Karma' are probbaly my two favourites, today 'Tauhid' is cued up next. Since the Floating Points album, which I love, I've been on a mission to plug the gaps in my Pharoah Impulse leader-date vinyl collection. Complete now.
  21. Pharoah Sanders - Black Unity [Impulse, 1972] Pharoah Sanders - Karma [Impulse, Club Edition, 1969]
  22. Same issue here with the Group Sounds Four and Five LP. Arrived with some white powdery addition to the grooves on side 1 that even when removed caused clicks etc. I've given it a good wash but not listened to it again yet. The few other LPs I have had from them have been trouble free.
  23. Carrie Symonds The Spaffer Max Wall
