  1. I'm not sure it's that fair to lay the blame solely at one player's feet. Not least because De Gea's mistake was a lot greater than anyone elses Ha! Just realised, that's Pique of Barcelona. I hope you're not letting club allegiance colour your view
  2. Sensational match between the Iberian neighbours. Costa and Nacho scored very very good goals and then Ronaldo trumps them. I'd say it was unbelievable but as he prepared to take the free kick it looked likely he'd score somehow
  3. and what a match that was...
  4. Binker & Moses - Alive In The East? [Gearbox] great live sound on this
  5. Whoa...loved that album when it came out. Saw them a few times too...I'd completely forgotten about them
  6. Brotzmann/Bennink/Mengelberg - 3 Points And A Mountain [FMP]
  7. Maybe not a right but a reasonable expectation, I think. Just imagine if the reverse had happened to Real a day before the Kiev final. Real would have been spitting feathers at the undermining of their preparations and rightly so. Whether the Federation overreacted will probably best be assessed when we see how far Spain progress
  8. It's very good. It's also 45rpm!
  9. Yes, I think you have, especially considering Spain's disastrous exit in Brazil
  10. Guardian's reporting that Ramos (my favourite player, as you probably remember from upthread ) and other team members were arguing for Lopetegui so one wonders what that will do to team morale. Looks very much like the Federation couldn't take the public undermining which I can understand - they were evidently informed of his appointment five minutes before Real's announcement. Elite club football's long had more clout than international and when the club's Real Madrid well...
  11. Tempting Johnny Mbizo Dyani - African Bass [Sing A Song Fighter]
  12. I'll keep my ears peeled from here Just checking its availability and saw this track title "For Deep Deep Finnish Forest Cymbal Governor" has to be one of the best
  13. Now that I didn't realise. Time to upgrade on the CD methinks. Fiery stuff as I remember?
  14. John Stevens - Spontaneous Music Ensemble [Polydor] masterpiece
  15. It's good to listen to this again although maybe a bit too knotty for the day's first. I can hear what MD means, the drums are very foregrounded, especially on side 2. Of course I may have only spotted this because it was pointed out. I'm not sure they dominate the music but certainly I hear them dominating the mix in passages - a drummer's collective
  16. I took it to mean that Erwbol now has so many CDs with the dedication "for Martin" that he's considering changing his name accordingly Unlikely to be Martin Davidson as he's based in Spain and if he were selling his personal collection he'd probably utilise his own retail channels rather than sell to the third party. Nice for Erwbol to hit such a generous seam. 'Pakistani Pomade' is an absolute must. One day I'll find 'Swinging The Bim' reasonably priced, probably at the end of the rainbow
  17. I think that I haven't listened to it nearly recently enough to comment but I may give it a spin tomorrow and get back to you
  18. Grachan Moncur III, Jazz Composer's Orchestra - Echoes Of Prayer [JCOA Virgin]
  19. Don Ellis - Haiku [MPS]
  20. which may explain why the LP was so cheap!
  21. But I'm not judging you or your life. I wouldn't be able to as I know not the first thing about it. I am judging your judgemental reaction to someone's suicide and by implication to their mental ill-health and I hold by that judgement. We'll disagree on that and so be it. I'm comfortable there.
  22. Don Ellis - Tears Of Joy [Columbia]
  23. I didn't know about this album. Something to definitely investigate now I read what it contains I was a big BVSC fan at the time of the first album and that first round of solo albums. A couple of very memorable live shows too
  24. Good to see the milk of human kindness runneths over. Such empathy bowls me over You obviously knew him very well to be able to make such insightful comments on his psyche or maybe you're being exactly what you say you're trying not to be. No two people's challenges and problems are alike.
