  1. I hear PSG have made a bid Great free kick. You can never count out any German side
  2. Mexico looking good today. Great counter-attacking play
  3. finally got this and the other new release. Always a good day when I enter Threadgill's world anew
  4. Yusef Lateef - Live At Pep's [Impulse] thanks Adrian for the prompt upthread to get this at last
  5. Just been informed that Carla's Trio date in London has been cancelled due to medical advice that she's not to fly. Here's hoping it's something not too serious
  6. That was a rough match, some nasty tackles. Well deserved win for Croatia who will beat better teams than Argentina in this competition
  7. Yes, flashes of inspiration from Greizmann and Mbappe. The team looked better set up than in their first match with Giroud leading the forward line. I'm hoping to see them fulfil their potential, as long as that's not against England A pity to say goodbye to Peru who played attractive football and had great fans
  8. Appreciate the offer, I'll let you know if I go that route
  9. Time to give it another try, I think. I've struggled with his output since 'No Method...' which I absolutely love as I do most of his other releases up to it I just don't hear any depth either to the music, it all seems reduced to the barest ingredients, or to the lyrics of which there seems to be far too many moaning about having to be a misunderstood rock star. At each release I listen expectantly for it to be the one but not yet, for me at least.
  10. Grachan Moncur III - Evolution [Blue Note, mono] one man's VG+ is another man's VG...to return or not, that is the question.
  11. John Carter - Shadows On A Wall [Gramavision] One of today's arrivals, testament to record collecting in the online age. The missing instalment of the series delivered from the continent in a matter of days. Well done Deutsche Post and Royal Mail!
  12. Michael Naura - Vanessa [ECM] I've not listened to this in ages. It's sounding good today
  13. I do, thanks duaneiac
  14. Thank you soulpope, interesting now listening to James Newton - Water Mystery [Gramavision]
  15. Max Cilla - La Flute Des Mornes, Volume 1 [Sofa Records]
  16. What's the one with the bison, bottom row?
  17. with thanks to whoever posted this a couple of weeks ago and alerted me to its existence.
  18. He's an adopted son of Liverpool already! We'll have him. Egypt can have Sterling in exchange
  19. Russia, home advantage and momentum.Could be interesting
  20. Your speculation would be accurate. The solo album is particularly strong. Now for some more John Carter & Bobby Bradford Quartet - Flight For Four [Flying Dutchman]
  21. John Carter Quintet - Night Fire [Black Saint] John Carter - A Suite Of Early American Folk Pieces For Solo Clarinet [Moers Music]
  22. England have a creativity deficit which is why they won't get beyond the first team that doesn't. However, Southgate realises this and has done a good job of crafting a team around speed and energy and Harry Kane (and maybe Marcus Rashford). It's the best available. Last sixteen hopefully, QFs if very lucky but as an England fan I can dream of the semis and weep into my beer
  23. Now you mention it...
  24. Yusef Lateef - The Golden Flute [HMV, mono] possibly my favourite Lateef
  25. That's unfair. They never looked like losing. Tunisia's only chance all evening was a penalty. Credit where credit's due. It was a good opening performance and a good sight better than many other England competition performances I can remember. They do need to do it again against Panama though
