  1. I'm looking forward to Mexico blowing the competition even wider open this afternoon
  2. Yukihiro Isso Trio - SakuSyaku [tohyohyo music] purchased at an astonishing performance by this great musician, at Cafe Oto last night
  3. Major poster campaign on London's underground too. Something very reassuring about seeing Tranes's face on the way to and from work. First Jazz album I can remember (apart from Kamasi!!) to have such a campaign
  4. Well, another favourite falls and the competition gets more open. It's always the most cruel way to lose. Sad for Iniesta, his last competition
  5. apart from pass it prettily outside the the Russian box. Fabregas on UK TV asking why they still have two defensive midfielders on the pitch. Which is a very good question I'll still not be surprised if my favourite player doesn't score a winning header with 2 minutes left
  6. And who can blame them. Spain seem to have no plan B. just as I type that Spain (Iniesta,of course) finally put one over the top for Aspas to chase, they need to mix it up a bit
  7. Spain really should be strong enough, even without Iniesta, surely
  8. Bobby Naughton - Solo Vibraphone [Otic] now that No Business is reissuing 'The Haunt' I wonder if this will receive similar treatment. Although I bought this copy direct rom source only a couple of years ago so maybe there are still enough LPs to sell
  9. Apologies if this has been posted previously, my search didn't turn anything up, but this looks very tempting https://mikewestbrookconcertband.bandcamp.com/album/the-last-night-at-the-old-place-2 great line up
  10. Wow. I don't think I even knew that existed. Will be very interested to hear your impressions
  11. Well played France. Impressive throughout the side. Argentina were poor and looked old not experienced. Why no Aguero from the start - crazy selection. Some great goals. A joy for a neutral. I'm looking forward to seeing a lot more of this French side, especially Mbappe. Hopefully all the way to the final where they lose to England
  12. I agree, and so does Southgate as his substitutions confirmed
  13. Sell it to me, why don't you?
  14. thank heavens that was our second string. No invention or penetration and no midfielder who could pass. Apart from that they were good
  15. But it won't be those centre backs in the next round unless there's a raft of injuries or Southgate loses his mind This has all the intensity of a friendly. No injury time at the end of the half says it all really
  16. Definitely interested. He's one of the few artists that I buy new releases of straight off, no delay. He's playing with 5 Elements in London soon, a sadly rare occurrence, and I'll be there
  17. I don't know. They ended up relying on crosses to Hummels to miss more than anything else. A team of that calibre should have been able to unpick the stubborn defence but there was little craft (the English disease) - Mueller and Ozil were anonymous, Gomez surplus apparently to requirements. I could only see Kroos and Kimmich really trying something imaginative and Brandt when he came on (why doesn't he start?). SK defended well and the goalkeeper was great. The Germans didn't lack luck as much as accuracy Definitely
  18. A really enjoyable afternoon's football. Germany did look bereft of ideas but with players of the quality of Brandt, Kimmich and Kroos they'll be back.
  19. Some Joe McPhee today Plan B - From Outer Space [Roaratorio] Joe McPhee & Brian Eubanks - My Undocumented Alien Clarinet [Penultimate Press]
  20. Clarinet Summit - In Concert At The Public Theatre [India Navigation] thoroughly enjoying this new addition, purchase inspired by the John Carter love-in we had upthread recently
  21. But...good enough in the end Inexperienced Nigerian team not so much outplayed but simply missing more of their chances than Argentina did theirs
  22. Brian Eno - Reflection [Warp] lovely, lovely music
  23. VAR was used in the FA Cup last season. Very mixed results
