  2. Yes, get well soon Mr Rudd. The samples of the new album sound fine indeed. Well done RareNoise for sticking with him for a second release.
  3. Has anyone heard the reissue of "Free Jazz" yet? How's it sound?
  4. Great, one for me definitely
  5. Previous McPhee reissue from them, Variations On A Blue Line, was a needle drop and I've not bought any others of theirs since because of that. Hope these aren't. I'll wait to be advised if someone would be so kind
  6. Keith Tippett. In duet with Matthew Bourne and with his Octet
  7. Jay Hoggard - Mystic Winds, Tropic Breezes [India Navigation] Dwight Andrews - The Little People [Otic] Abdullah - Life's Force [About Time]
  8. Billy Bang/John Lindberg - Duo [Anima] the title says it all really. Consummate music making
  9. Happy birthday Gunter! To the best of my knowledge he's not played in the UK for a very long time. One of the true originals who I'd love to see live. Maybe I need to travel to see him now
  10. The American Jazz Ensemble - New Dimensions [Epic] you can't go very wrong with Richard Davis and Paul Motian on board
  11. Yes, The Source is a good listen, one I've retuned to a number of times over the last few months. Not groundbreaking perhaps but no less enjoyable for that
  12. that's a good record. bears repeat listening
  13. Gil Melle & The Jazz Electronauts - Tome VI [Verve] prompted by the obscurities thread. Interesting listen
  14. Another fan of that Maupin here who also prefers it to his BB work...but not to his ECM
  15. some real gems in there Dragonfly Breath is the one I have to thank you for, Steve. And I do every time I play it. Also, same could be said of Sluchaj https://sluchaj.bandcamp.com/
  16. Wow! Plenty of interest in that line-up. Enjoy it
  17. I think I will become so. The contrast between the two sides is interesting. Side 1 made an immediate impact for its subtlety and restraint - not you typical ESP session
  18. A giant leaves the land. He does at least leave it a better place for all his work.
  19. Blue Maqams is a very special recording indeed. Thanks for continuing to post these even if US/UK release dates differ it's still useful to see what's in the offing
  20. Took delivery today of a copy of Brubeck Quartet - The Riddle. There's a strip of braille on the back cover. Thankfully I work with braille readers so I'll be able to solve the mystery. My bet's on "The Riddle"
  21. and now onto another of today's arrivals Alan Silva - Skillfullness [ESP]. Excellent
