I have that LP; it's incredible but their first one is even better! Was that reissued as well? Not that I know of. What's the first one called? I know him from Krakatau and bought tis on the strength of those albums

Evan Parker and The Necks at Cafe Oto in a couple of hours I can't wait to see how this works. I find the Necks music completely enthralling and they seem so self-contained that I'm not surprised they don't usually collaborate....we'll see I may make wednesday's AMM and EP which will make an interesting contrast Because they were behind you?

I recognise the ID's in Niels post from some time back and it would be good to see them over here.

I've been digging this album too. At this stage it still loses me a bit in the second half leading up to the excellent Really OK. More spins required etc. An excellent album, i'm still knocked out by Chris Speed here, his playing adds the perfect amount of bite. Ordered my copy today in no small part due to the discussions of it on the board. When I read "Halvorson" and "Giuffre" in the same sentence it became a 'must buy' I've also just realised how much I like the cover design....a small bonus. Now all I need is for the good people at Relative Pitch to get it in the post quickly so I can join in the discussions

I listened to it last night. It's very sparse and introspective overall, going to take some concentrated listening... I preferred Koan to Oblique so that whets my appetite to hear it's sparse

I thought about grabbing that from Alan's list but I had other priorities (non-record-related). Assume you got it there? Looks like a great record. No, not from Alan so he may still have it. Very good indeed. You wouldn't be disappointed if you like the two musicians as I suspect you do. It's high intensity playing that somehow creates an almost graceful calm in places

The Grip - Celebrate [slowfoot] Finn Peters (as, fl); Oren Marshall (tba); Tom Skinner (d) the influence is there in the band name and instrumental line up. the music is very good
