  1. The album could have used a little more cowbell. imo
  2. O.K. it's Joe! Actually, I am the one who suggested a touch more reverb on the harmonica...so uh...I'm the baddest. Where's my production credit, damn it.
  3. Joe is a sweet and sensitive soul. Anyhow, for me, it depends on the track. The thing about Jimmy's role is much of it goes unsung. I mean, for most people, it is not until you see all the stuff he is doing with draw bars and volume swells and left hand/foot stuff that an appreciation for his artistic stylings is developed. Don't get me wrong, Jimmy can burn, but he doesn't do that for its own sake. It is about the song first. If you are an organist, you will get this immediately. Now, if you are guitarist, you will be drawn to Joe's developing voice. Guitarist can play their whole life and never find a unique voice. Joe in finding his, and in spades! Joe has a touch and melodic sensibility that is wonderful. As a guitarist, I am prone to say he was my favorite. But again, it depends on the track. Drummers you will really like the sax player... just kiddin' Randy. I love you brother! Drummers are drawn to Randy. He is a legend around these parts. By the way, John Large called and was trying to rip your stuff off. That is, he is practicing to the CD like a mad man. "Randy is playing some really cool shit on this CD". John, is by the way, another very well respected musician, so this is qualified praise. imo Frankly, they are a band first. Not merely a bunch of good musicians. When Joe sounds great it is because Randy and Jim are kickin' butt. And vice versa and so on...The interplay, personal expression, and support is what makes these tunes. These are songs first. Not merely opportunities for wanking. None of these guys even begin to think they are better than the other. Nor do any of them think they are the best out there. They are well grounded. Moreover, it is not their individual strengths, rather it is their collective creativity that separates them from the more established acts. This is the feedback we are getting from people around the country. These have always been my thoughts about the fellas. Beautiful players who get the band concept! It's about time!!!
  4. Would this be a decent venue for organissimo. The owner expressed an interest but I was wondering if any one here has been there. We also got a little interest from Hot House. Many Thanks, Greg
  5. tell them it was uphill both ways. Seriously, that is a beautiful part of the state. I have played at Billy's in Saugatuck a few times in the past. I wish you a safe journey.
  6. When I heard John Mayer's Heavier Things on the radio I did not like it, at all. However, my wife brought home the CD, and well, sans radio compression his voice is actually not that bad. In fact, it is quite dynamic. You radio guys should be ashamed. Using all that compression. Regarding Herbie: I believe in Herbie. g
  7. Their applied visual merchandising is sublime. I was in line the other day waiting for the coffee of the day, and I almost bought an Etta James CD. Then I realized I already had the tracks at home. The smell of java makes me crazy, I think.
  8. Her dad was pretty cool. Saw him live and spoke with him in Ann Arbor some years back. He knew how to put on a show!
  9. Just bought it from Amazon. Can't wait!
  10. I love Wes, but don't have this. Must have... "gone shopping" g
  11. That was enjoyable. Regarding the POD I did upgrade my software not so long ago, and they now use the Bass version's compressor software. It sounds better. Not as good as the real thing, but much better. Are you a fan of Scott Henderson by any chance? g
  12. I keep reading this heading as "organissimo plays in chaps" it is disturbing Jim
  13. Yeah, turn that sucker up to 11! I've got a nice set of AKG headphones, and I too turned Pumpkin Pie up for a nice listen.
  14. Yeah, Play Nice is pretty damn cool. Like good poetry, subsequent visits turn up something new. Peaches is very fun. The intro to Tenderly is spectacular! Great Job Joe! I had a chance to listen to the whole thing today straight through (not easy with my schedule) and it flows well. I know some people have balked at Smokin' Section but I found it to be a nice side street. And for those of you who have yet to see organissimo live, just wait till you witness Pumpkin Pie first hand. Awesome! I enjoy the studio version all that much more, I imagine. g
  15. Want me to respond? ← You just did. Geez. Kick a man...
  16. Man, I am a bonehead. I thought I was on that other thread. Well, I'll post my indecision over there as well.
  17. Getting back on track (if you'll pardon the very weak pun), I can't decide which tune is my favorite. But Pumpkin Pie is right up there. Tenderly is sweet. Wealthy Street is neat. Heck, I don't know yet... a few more listens ought to do it, or not.
  18. small and intimate. should be big fun.
  19. I guess I should probably throw out my Kenny G collection now.... <sniff>
  20. That is right. emusic was having other problems too, if I remember correctly.
  21. The aforementioned proposition was thrown at me years ago in grad school. Nothing new...yet, I am open-minded. Noj, I just popped off a PM.
  22. Now, if they'd just change the name of the group to GUITARISSIMO. (Damn, they're goes any hope of decent inscriptions on my CD from Jim and Randy.) ← Too much pressure. I'd rather be the "secret weapon". ← Yeah, we've got our whole marketing strategy worked out: Randy is the cute one! Jim is the pensive one! And Joe is the quite one! Got to keep these marketing roles straight. We got these contrivances from the Monkees, afterall... Did I just say Randy was the cute one????
  23. Zora is a musical little kid. She is constantly hammering away on the piano, and her vocal utterances are very melodic. She will be smokin' dad's butt, on some instrument, by the time she is 12.
  24. Yes to both. We are days away from setting this up. g
