yes, Doppelmoppel was one of the best few shows I saw in the four years I went to Victo, great band! great to hear they're still playing also, they must be closing in on 25 years or so together by now... they got together in 1981 I believe
  4. hhh-okay, I seem to have missed out on some of the recent BN output as well. According to BN-dot-com we now have: - Them Dirty Blues (Landmark Vol 1) - Cannonball's BossaNova (Landmark Vol 2) - Jazz Workshop Revisited (Landmark Vol 3) - Poll Winners (Landmark Vol 4) - Lighthouse (Landmark Vol 5) - Takes Charge (Landmark Vol 6) that covers the Landmarks, what's the 7th tape?
  5. Don't know how I overlooked that. I guess my earlier post wasn't clear enough. Anyway, we can't call that one "obscure". I must admit I never heard of these "Landmarks," they seem to be a well known series. Anyhow, on the back of the Takes Charge disk, it says that "when Cannonball signed to Capitol records in 1963 he brought 7 master tapes from his Riverside days with him. This is one of a series of Capitol Jazz CDs making those early classics available again." So, is this Landmark series based on these tapes? If so, it seems BN has plans for them.
  6. AFAIK Blue Note/Capitol has the rights now. Takes Charge has been released on CD in 2002 edit: this only applies to Takes Charge, I gues (?)

as things have been developing, couw has been doing the recording as well off late. He went over his net traffic limit 3 months in a row already. Time to stop downloading all that stoopid music. Or get another connection. Guess it will have to be the latter.

thanks for the review Ubu, reads like you had a great time. Still haven't found the cool Doppelmoppel vinyl from the times differences still mattered.
  14. nope, we only have "oorlog." But old Dutch (neerlandés)? The official Diccionario de la Real Academia de la Lengua Española says so. They probably picked that up when we were fighting the Spanish for our freedom from the mid-1500s to the mid-1600s... B-) they had 80 years for that you know.
  15. nope, we only have "oorlog." But old Dutch (neerlandés)? The official Diccionario de la Real Academia de la Lengua Española says so. hmm, I'm overasked with that. I have never run across it really. In olde English textes yes, but not in Dutch.
  16. nope, we only have "oorlog." And the ancient "krijg", like the German "Krieg". indeed, but who plays that game of krijgertje anymore nowadays? Just thinking that "oorlog" probably does have the same stem as "war," just need to figure out where the "-log" comes from.
  17. nope, we only have "oorlog." war is for tangled, like hair or strings of wool. "my hair is in the war," we can hear a famous flemish comedian say.
  18. Cecil Taylor is good for long train trips when in that permanent state of almost asleep, but definitely not yet. In general, the freer forms of jazz fit well with that mood and place.
  19. should I change it?
