yeah, rub it in... What bothers me is that the Savoy/Denon disks I have all sound really good. And now this. Weird.
  5. yes, let's hope they will. no doubt you will run into a decently priced copy in Paris one day.
  6. no, I think we haven't had this site before. Note that these are CD covers of the early kind.

Couw, Mine's a 1990 King album. I don't recall anything wrong with it but I'll give it a spin and let you know. Thanks. It is most notable on the vibe solos. Here is a 10 second snippet from somewhere towards the end of Eddie's solo on Another You (300Kb 192kpbs mp3; right-click-save or copy-paste the URL in the address bar). It sounds like a digital swoosh you get on lo-fi mp3s. Does anyone have the same Savoy/Denon CD?
  8. THIS is even scarier!
  9. dunno, you seem to...
  10. whipped cream
  11. which is what I did! I haven't given up on the man as he squeezed some amazing stuff out of his horn on this one:
  12. I found Lakatos tone to have gone WAY sweet and smooth in comparison to his earlier outings when he at times almost sounded like Jackie Mac with a cold. Some of the things I have heard by him were downright awful in my book. I'd take the stairs if it were playing in the elevator. Part of the blame is surely the recordings themselves, all very smooth, electric, and too clean to be true. My taste of course, but I wouldn't call it a full-bodied expressive tone.
  13. why look-y there. it is one of the very few Barney Wilen items brownie doesn't have... and the tapes are lost too, aren't they?
  14. you'll get it for the same price from amazon.de marketplace. nice site anyhow, good to know things like this are available.

Got me a copy of the Mighty Mike Cuozzo Savoy album, a mighty fine affair, very enjoyable. BUT, there's a terrible flutter or swoosh over Eddie's vibes. My copy is a 1993 Nippon Columbia Savoy Denon. Is this a known fault, or did I get a copy of a crappy batch that was ditched in some dark corner to be destroyed, but never was?
  16. boulie boulie mousick
  17. this is a classic case of "da shit" BTW.
  18. I did and got 'Something Wonderful' because of Nancy and the musicians featured behind her (Ben Webster, Jack Marshall, Joe Comfort, Shelly Manne) and despite the scandalously short playing time (30 minutes 04 seconds). Wish reissue producer Michael Cuscuna had included a second album there. And this Made in the EU CD is Copy Controlled The bastards!!! another not very long, but great one recently released:
  19. Didn't Zappa have Ringo Starr as Zappa in 200 Motels? yes
  20. I took a leap from some of the Prestige stuff to some Atlantic compilation LP and that did leave me thinking "ouch!" It's a big leap and I didn't quite like the opposite shore. Too artificial somehow. It's been a while, I should dig it out.
  21. credit to Jim Dye from here as well you will want to check out more of Ms. Wilson's output I should think.
  22. It's fun. And maybe easier to get a gig with them! I bet you could get even more gigs if you were to play with a belly dancer
  23. yup, that's it. was this too amateurish and annoying for the King as well? only listened to the first few seconds... and then you hurried back to that crazy Korean site, right?
  24. yeah man, there wasn't even an option where you could fill in you want a glass of wine at 10 am.
