  1. Fred replaced Cindy.
  2. Last chance to order extended to Sunday 27th.
  3. Order period now until Sunday the 20th.
  4. Duke Ellington The Complete Reprise Studio Recordings disc 2 The Afro bossa album. Love this enormously.
  5. The Frémeaux series misses the alternate take of 'I can't give you anything but love' . If you have the JSP box and 2CD set you need the Louis Armstrong Neatwork vol. 1 to be complete. The sound of this missing take is not very good. On the JSP set it is the last track on CD 4. The vocalists session yes I mean the blues singers and Seger Ellis and Jimmie Rodgers. I have the Affinty set. I wouldn't want to miss 'Sunshine baby' Not for the siging but hear Louis and Johnny Dodds play. But I would like to have a set with all of Armstrongs own recordings without having to listen to singers that I am at best not very fond of. And this set does not excist.
  6. Some of the Okehs were first issued on Columbia. The JSP Box misses the later discovered instrumental takes. And the Bigband 2CD set misses the 4 alternate takes. A Mosiaic I would go for would be 8 or 9 CD's. Disc 1-8 with the Okeh/Columbia and Victor sides. If Universal cooperates disc 9 could contain the Brunswick sessions including the 1934 Paris session. Than this set would seamlessly fit before the Decca 1936-1946 set. The vocalist sessions from this period would ad 3 more CD's. Mostly not my cup of tea.
  7. And there is the still available Decca 1935-1946 box. There is no complete edition of Armstrong’s work for Okeh, Columbia and Victor 1925-1933.
  8. Never had that problem. Just played it to be sure. And no problem.
  9. Got an e-mail from Mosaic today that if you want the Savoy set you have to order by wednesday the 16th for the final pressing of this set.
  10. So do I. But on the coming soon page there is only one set. Next year there will be a Armstrong Columbia studio set. That’s all I know so far for 2019. There is not much to speculate about. And soon there won’t be much to report about sets going oop either bacause there are not that much sets left.
  11. The Eddie Condon Bud Freeman set is now OOP.
  12. It was a small package and was deliverd to me in the Netherlands without import taxes. A importfirm has to pay those taxes as well and passes them on to the customers.
  13. I bought it directly from Rivermont through their website.
  14. I love the transfers and the restauraties. The sound is warmer than on the Retrieval.
  15. The cimplete JATP 1944-1949. Disc 4. Superb Hawk and Prez with Bird and Willie Smith. Not crazy about him.Not bad but not the same level as the others i.m.o.
  16. Suits nu fine as long as this sets comes. Teddy Wilson and Savory just arrived. Dail and Savoy in the pipeline. Realy looking forward to the Armstrong set. Reissued so far did not cut the mustard fir me.
  17. Now playing the delightfull piano of Teddy Wilson on disc 1.
  18. I’ve got that just two weeks ago. The sound is great. I recommend it.
  19. Wich New Henderson set do you mean?
  20. Teddy Wilson and Savory arrived today. Now playing Savory discs 5 and Then 6, the Basie recordings.

    Frog Records

The Forte is a 3 CD set and has all takes but one take. They missed out on one take of Naughty Man wich is included on the Jazz Oracle CD 'A gift from the president'. On the new Frog 11 of the 25 tracks are with Armstrong. They are all on the Forte set. The sound of the Frog is great. It seems to me that the Frog Fletcher Henderson is a continuation of the two Fletcher Henderson issues on Timeless Historical. The announced vol. 3 1924-1925 never appeared. Though this will probably will be the second volume on Frog.
